Here how it works:
I have chosen some of the top talent in AZ, from various classes. I have randomly seeded them and put them into their 1 v 1 matchups. I then post that matchup to twitter and the community votes on who they think would win 1 v 1. Highest votes moves into the next round until we crown the winner!
Lets look over the matchups and give some real life analysis on the pairings!
Round 1:
Jasmine Singleton vs Taty Clayburne
In real life, this would be such a fun matchup. Singleton is more of a defensive guard while Taty is more of a scoring type. I think the two would go at it in a very competitive game but I would predict that Taty would pull it out just because she’s a more versatile scorer.
Jennah Isai vs Senya Rabouin
This is a fun matchup of senior vs sophomore. Isai would likely win easily as I think she is much more physical and better overall skill wise.
Bridget Mullings vs Heavenly Greer
Battle of the bigs! I think Greer takes this due to a size and athleticism advantage. She also has better post moves as of right now but she is older.
Kennedy Basham vs Dyamond Butler-Worley
I can actually see this one going in DBW’s favor. She is very physical and strong and has good size. I could see KB having issues scoring on her due to Dyamond’s strength.
Ally Stedman vs Kamryn Doty
This would be a really fun matchup! Both are score first type of guards and get buckets in bunches. I give a slight advantage to Stedman due to size.
Liz Cruz vs Ali Zelaya
Cruz is very talented but Zelaya is one of the top players in state and is the best post player in state.
Jaya Nelson vs Haylee Weathersby
I could see this match up going either way. If I had to choose a winner, I think I would take Weathersby.
Kiya Dorroh vs Daeja Johnson
Dorroh would likely beat anyone in a game of 1 on 1 due to her size, athleticism, and scoring ability. She’s my pick to win it all.
Anna Ostlie vs Lexi McNabb
Interesting matchup here of senior guard and young guard. McNabb has a ton of potential but Ostlie would be too much for her right now.
Trayanna Crisp vs Isabella DiGiovanni
I think I’d pick Crisp in this match up. She’s far more physically imposing.
Jess Finney vs Iva Drobjnak
Finney is too much scoring for a lot of players to stop! Advantage Finney.
Alyssa Brown vs Madison Connor
This one would be very fun due to both girls being super aggressive and physical. I’d pick Connor though since she can shoot the 3 ball!
Mia Davis vs Kam Rhodes
I like this matchup of young guards but I’d pick Davis. She is bigger and stronger. Both are very equal in skill set as of now.
Amanda Barcello vs Marisa Davis-Jones
This would be probably my most favorite matchup of the first round. Both girls are super versatile and can lock up defensively. I’d expect this game to be very close in score with MDJ winning it.
