Five months later, we update our rankings for the first time and have had a lot of new additions to the Senior rankings and some movement in the group. Here’s a look at the Top 10 ranked Seniors in our updated 2020 Class Rankings.
Maddie Scherr, Ryle – Much has been said and written about the future Oregon Duck. Maddie is the best player in the state, regardless of class. She should be the early favorite for Miss Basketball and will look to lead Ryle to back to back State Championships.
Taziah Jenks, Mercy – Jenks has been one of the most popular names in the country with college coaches over the last few months. She’s six foot tall and can play inside or out. While she is working to add bulk to her frame, Taziah is going to be ready to contribute at the college level right away.
Shelby Calhoun, CAL – One of the earliest commitments in the class, Calhoun is headed to Virginia Tech after graduation. Her ability to score is nothing to sneeze at but Calhoun is most impressive as a defender and rebounder. She will look to get the Lady Centurions to Rupp Arena before graduation.
Malea Williams, Scott County – Possessing probably the most upside in the class because of her height and skill set, Malea is going to have to be ready for a very big role this year after losing Maaliya Owens to graduation and Timothi Williams to transfer. Williams is an match-up nightmare for her opponents but will need to she she can be a go to scorer to win the 11th Region.
Whitney Hay, Elizabethtown – Recently committed to Belmont, Hay is possibly the best pure scorer in the Senior class. She can shoot it from deep or get to the rim. After a shocking upset in the regional final last season, Hay and her teammates are planning to avenge their loss and get to Rupp Arena to finish their high school careers.
Kennedy Igo, George Rogers Clark – Objectively the best shooter in the 2020 class, Igo is going to be a Senior leader for a relatively young group at GRC. She committed to Northern Kentucky early on in the process and has spent the summer working to improve her game and become more than a catch and shoot player.
Ally Collett, South Laurel – Another big time shooter, Ally is part of a loaded Senior class for the Lady Cardinals. Collett committed to Western Kentucky a while back and has spent her summer adding strength and getting ready to lead her team to the Sweet Sixteen in March.
Erin Toller, Sacred Heart – The great unknown right now, Toller is on her way back from an ACL tear. She committed to Kentucky about a year ago. Prior to the injury, Erin was in discussion as the top player in the class and she can certainly get back to that level if she’s fully healed.
Kendall Wingler, Meade County – Probably the most valuable player to any team in this list, Kendall goes everything for Meade County. She had a strong summer for Kentucky Royals and racked up multiple D1 offers over the course of the summer. If she can be the best player in the 3rd region, they may have a shot to win it.
Ellie Taylor, Elizabethtown – A big riser from the first version of the rankings, Ellie went from no offers to multiple D1 offers over the course of the summer. Look for she and Whitney Hay to be very motivated to get revenge for their surprise loss to Bethlehem back in March. Taylor is the engine that makes E-Town go and very deserving of her new top ten ranking.
