2022 Texas preseason Watch List
I watch a lot of basketball, various settings and situations but I also catch plenty of players when they were young, like Ashlon Jackson who is one of the best in the country, maybe the best, and remains atop the 2022 Watch List for Texas. Jackson was only in the 3rd grade when I first wrote about her, that surprised even me as I didn’t realize how much the time had flied but seeing these young ladies, like the loaded squad at DeSoto, who have six on the list including 6’5 Tionna Herron, also among that top 10-15 in the country, all in elementary school “ballin and bringing” it early. She and 6’4 Amina Muhammad form a front line that could do damage in several college conferences right now, wait, also 6’4 Sa’Myah Smith as well. What a loaded squad, Ayanna Thompson is a nightmare to defend and Michayla Gatewood is a perfect example of why the game starts at the one. That’s DeSOTO, unlike the car, it’s still in production and going strong
R’Mani TaylorR’Mani Taylor was in the 5th grade dribbling the ball waiting to play when something just clicked as I watched her between halves attacking a much older players, Sydney Ward was little older when I first saw her, length plus athleticism times youth falls into an algorithm I have personally put together over years of watching “the game change” yet that old saying “the cream always rises to the top” is almost 100% correct. Carleigh Wenzel with that patented stroke always caught my eye and it’s devastating because she’s mixed so much into her game
After seeing more players over the summer on various club teams that I hadn’t seen due to a variety of reasons, I glanced at Bailey Maupin from afar and couldn’t make out her number yet her coach gave me an assist as she has BCS offers on the table. That’s great, but I’ll get a better look but one thing I do know is that she can play. Desiree Wooten sold me at Tyrone Johnson Showcase, one of those rare times I asked who a player was because there was no roster but several players other players got on board, in a big way as Madison Cockrell and Jordyn Marshall are coming off of huge summers while Kenna Gibson and Aliyah Collins sold me, yet again, this past weekend but here is the link to the 2022 updates
