Barons Head Coach Ryan Ingalls has built this program from the ground up and has been successful recruiting talented girls to come play for her. ” It is all about program in the public-school system and we want to build a program that girls want to play at not have to play at. My staff and I attend Middle School basketball games so that we can get a leg up on other programs.”
BCC looks to defend its 4A West Regional Crown and bring home the state title.
As the Barons prepare for the 2019-2020 season, Coach Ingalls returns three starters from a 18-8 record last year. She will rely on two rising Juniors in Caroline Orza and Lilly Roberson. Caroline was the leading scorer on the team with 15PPG and creates opportunities for the offense when she drives to the basket. “She can dish it, she can take it to the hoop; Caroline is so smart with the basketball.” Lilly Roberson has been on Varsity the past two seasons and as the Point Guard, Lilly has a great handle with the basketball. The third returning starter is Ava Haraldsson. Ava with her height can play the 2,3, or 4 position on the court as versatile as she is. “Ava can shoot from inside and outside the three point line, her shot has gotten better over the summer and I am really looking forward to seeing her game step up for this season.”
Rising Junior Caroline Orza will be a key contributor in the BCC offense this season.
Coach Ingalls lost 2 Senior starters in Stephanie Howell (Currently playing college basketball at St.Marys College) and Merete Cowles but will look to two key role players to help the team this year. First is Rising Junior Emily Niman, she played on Varsity last season and Coach Ingalls is looking for her to make a big jump now as a upperclassman. “She got a lot of experience on Varsity last season and she stepped up big time for us and I really believe she will be a big contributor for us.” The other role player will be the lone returning Senior Jessica Katz. “I really love Jessica’s leadership and now as a Senior and in her last year I hope she can carry that leadership for us and be a contributor when her name is called during this season.”
As the upcoming season approaches, Coach Ingalls is looking forward to two important matchups against local rivals that give her team a good test during the season. “It is always the Churchill and Whitman games that get our girls fired up to play, they are both local schools and a lot of these girls know each other from going to same Middle Schools, it challenges them to step their game up.”
The Barons start off their defending 4A West Regional Champion season in a scrimmage against Richard Montgomery in Late November.
