On paper it looks like the Lady Trojans has what it will take to get back on that road to State but as we all know, the game is played on the court not on paper. Here’s a look at the Lady Trojans 2019-2020 projected roster.
Ariyana Grassity 5’5″ PG class of 2020 Topeka High
Ariyana Grassity is a transfer from Highland Park High School and the #10 prospect in the Kansas Prep Girls Hoops rankings. She will be finishing her high school career with the Lady Trojans this season. Grassity plays like a hungry pitbull off its leash, that is something you can’t teach. She will definitely come right in and make an immediate impact for the Lady Trojans.
Jae’mya Lyons 6’0″ PF class of 2021 Topeka High
Jae’mya Lyons holds the #17 prospect spot in the 2021 class for the Kansas Prep Girls Hoops rankings. Lyons also transferred in from Highland Park High School, chasing that dream of a Kansas High School 6A Championship. She will bring with her some more size and toughness down low for the Topeka High Lady Trojans.
Ja’Neysha Hendricks 5’4″ PG class of 2021 Topeka High
Ja’Neysha Hendricks earned the #20 prospect spot in the 2021 class, Kansas Prep Girls Hoops rankings. She has good court vision and looks to set teammates up. Ja’Neysha likes to play aggressive on the defensive end of the floor, which leads to steals for her and easy layups for her teammates.
Nijaree “Nija” Canady 6’0″ F class of 2022 Topeka High
Nija comes in at the #1 prospect spot in the class 2022 for the Kansas Prep Girls Hoops rankings. Nija Canady can really play, she plays good defense, and she knows how to score the ball within the flow of the game. There’s a reason why she is the number prospect in her class in Kansas. Nijaree “Nija” Canady is a name you will not want to forget this season.
Talayah “Tae” Thomas 5’6″ G class of 2022 Topeka High
Tae is holding down the #4 prospect spot in the class of 2022 Kansas Prep Girls Hoops rankings. Tae Thomas fills that stat sheet up every night, doing what it takes it help her team win. She can shoot the ball from distance and also has nice handles that she uses with a change of pace to keep defenders off guard. Tae can do a little bit of everything well and will do so to help her team get back to the State Championship game.
Kiki Smith G class of 2023 Topeka High
Let me introduce you to the Jr. NBA Championships MVP and Champion from the Central team, Kiki Smith! The rankings for the class of 2023 are not out yet and when they do Kiki will be in the rankings holding down a spot. Where and when in this loaded Lady Trojans lineup will Kiki Smith fit, is the question.
The rest of the recipe for Coach Hannah Alexander: Laryn Murray 2020, Gracie German 2020, Zoe Caryl 2021 and Faith Shields all will contribute to this loaded Topeka High Lady Trojans program this season.
