1) Koi Sims (Archbishop Spalding High School, Junior, #23) – With 19 points and 5 fouls, Koi Sims’ is an aggressive player who uses her size to her advantage as a leader on the floor. Her effortless drop-step shot and turn-around jumper kept Spalding in the game, despite losing 60-43 to Howard High School. Sims is not afraid to handle the ball either, making guarding her a challenge for smaller players. She is aggressive on the boards, boxing out hard and chasing loose balls. She also displayed her quickness, easily defending agile opponents. She is an obvious leader and mentor to her younger sister, freshman Kamari Sims, who has obviously been influenced by her sister’s powerful style of play.
2) Charia Roberts (Pikesville High School, Senior, #23) – this Loyola University commit led the Lady Panthers with her menacing inside presence on both ends of the floor. An all-around player, her good defensive timing, coupled with blocks and steals led many conversions on the offensive end. Despite her playing as a forward, she handles the ball as confidently as she scores in the paint. Her game emanates intensity. It is evident she is a leader on the floor as she sets the tone of tough play for her teammates to follow. Despite her limited playing time, she scored 13 points in 34-10 Lady Panther victory over Dr. Henry A. Wise Jr. High School.
3) Kamari Sims (Archbishop Spalding High School, Freshman, #24) – Not to be outdone by her standout sister, Kamari Sims proved a great post player in her own right. Despite her team’s loss to Howard High School, Kamari finished the game with 12 points, not afraid to play physically in the paint, finishing at the rim with ease. Like her sister, she too is unafraid to handle the ball and challenge smaller, quicker defenders. As she is only a freshman, Sims has several more years to hone her game and become a truly dominating force for Spalding.
4) NyShae Weaver (Coppin High School, Junior, #4) – This methodical post player does not let anything past her off the glass. A machine in the paint, she helped lead the Eagles to victory over Meade High School with 19 points—mostly from her go to drop step and offensive put-backs. She is an aggressive defender unafraid of bodying up her defender. Her performance this year will likely sneak up on opponents, as she is a steady force on the floor despite her team’s inconsistent guard play.
