I had the opportunity to do this today and I couldn’t wait to put my fingers on my keys and tell you all about the players I was able to observe.
Teams and Players to watch out for:
Bishop Kenny (Crusaders)
Jasmyne Roberts 5’10 2021 Guard
I was very impressed with this do it all guard. She defends well, she rebounds, she distributes, and she leads by example. This all doing guard can play on the ball as well as off the ball. She has nothing but great things in store for her. If you’re in the Jax area you better punch your ticket and get in the gym to watch her go. If she’s not on your radar she should be!!!! Jasmyne is a hooper, no doubt.
Jamia Nesmith 5’10 2021 Forward
If I was building a team Jamia Nesmith will be apart of my team. This forward runs the floor like a deer, she does the dirty work, she rebounds, set screens, passes well, and finishes around the basket. A forward like Jamia would make any team better immediately. Her grind it out attitude will take her a long way in the world of basketball.
Allen D Nease (Panthers) Ponte Vedra, Fl
Stephanie Manherz 5’6 2021 Guard
Stephanie was a blur I had to put on my glasses to watch her zoom up and down the court. Stephanie is an up-tempo guard that goes fast and faster. Usually fast means mistakes, but not in this case. Stephanie plays fast and under control. She is a true leader on the floor. She is a feisty guard that causes commotion on defense and, will put a strain on your defense if you blink. Stephanie has no flaws in her game. I will be keeping my eye on her because I’m expecting big things in a small package this season from Stephanie.
Sophia Rueppelo 5’7 2023 Guard
Sophia has nothing but time to get better and reach her ceiling. Sophia is a guard that can’t be rattled. She stays in control of the entire game. Nothing speeds her up or slows her down unless she decides to. She has a great feel for the game. Although she’s an underclassman, you won’t be able to tell by her play. Keep your eyes open for her in the future.
Bolles (Bulldogs)
Ashley Tompkins 5’5 2021 Guard
Ashley is a solid guard that makes great decisions with the ball in her hand. I would consider Ashley as the glue to this team. Her leadership and voice on the floor will propel this team late in the season. She’s a steady guard who minimizes her mistakes. Ashley is a difference-maker on both sides of the floor.
Taliah Scott 5’7 2023 Guard
Taliah is a flat-out player, that’s the best way to describe this guard. She’s going places and I mean major places, with the basketball in her hand. Taliah has all the attributes to be a major player in the city of Jax. If you ever in this area grab a ticket and get to a Bolles girls basketball game and watch Taliah. I guarantee you, it’s well worth the watch. I could go on about Taliah, but to sum it up, SHE CAN GO!!!
Jean Ribault (Trojans)
Jada Atkins 5’8 2020 Guard
Jada is a basketball player with a capital B. I cant limit her to a position because she actually can do it all. She handles the ball, plays off the ball, passes the ball, posts up, rebound, she simply does it all. Jada makes things go for the Trojans, and the Trojans will go as far as Jada takes them. If you love a basketball player whose not defined by the norm, Look Jada up she will be exactly what the doctor ordered.
Shayla Bouie 5’5 2020 Guard
Shayla is a floor general. Shayla is a steady guard that presses the gas pedal when need to, or she settles the team and get into their offensive sets if that’s what’s called for. There’s no doubt in her game. She has SWAG and knows how to turn it on/off when the time is right. She’s tough on both ends of the floor and not ashamed to SHOW IT!!!
Honorable Mention:
Sariah Obrien-Forde (Bolles) 5’6 2021 Guard
Shekinah Sanders (Bolles) 5’8 2020 Guard
Grace Beyer (Nease) 5’7 2021 Guard
Kenya Williams (Ribault) 5’7 2021 Forward
