No matter how you try and explain things in a simple manner, the best way for me to say it is to not try and use logic in an illogical system. Some eventually get it, many never will and that truly saddens me, but what makes me happy is watching talented players bring it, especially those who I said would do just that and I’m dropping some of the Texas Top 100 guards from the 2020 class that showed out during this game
Laila BlairLaila Blair-I guess the phrase “offensive machine” would fit even though she changed her hair color and I had to take a double take hollering “Laila” after back to back step back threes, she nodded and smiled but the game has been there for a minute, well even longer as she impressed me way before high school. Stop and pop from the midrange, taking defenders off the dribble, she scored countless ways and has committed to the University of Houston
Myra Gordon- on her way to breaking sister’s (Lexi) career scoring record at LD Bell, she already has season and game records if I’m nor mistaken, I saw this young lady in the 5th or 6th grade with Higher Goals and said she was a #D1L]ock along with many others from this 2020 class, which I labeled a “monster”. She falls into the “big guard that can shoot” category yet in this game, she got hers in the flow, effortlessly which is scarier
Arianna Sturdivant (dribbling) & Myra GordonArianna Sturdivant- can’t say I called this young lady in middle school but picture perfect jumper sold me as a freshman as she had it on full display om mid to long range and when I say range, she is one of the most accurate long ball shooters in the area, probably the state as well. She’s strong, understands how to take defenders which she did over and over as well as mix it up from the outside during the game
Lanay WheatonLanay Wheaton-blew up over the summer, she is one of those “never takes a play off” types that bothers the heck out of those she’s guarding as well as those trying to guard her. Her pull-up over defenders is priceless, she has a deceptive first step but her athleticism enables her to do basically whatever she wants as her game can go mid to long or don’t blink and she’s by you. The more I saw her, the more impressive she was, especially in this game
