Four of those top ten performed in Pass Tha Ball’s I-45 Shootout which has become an annual phenomenon as I try and evaluate, no wait, I evaluate every player in attendance so let me recap the four and I’ll be adding more from the class later. Side note, all 4 made my Tip Sheets in elementary school or before their first middle school game
Gisella MaulGisella Maul-5’10 G (Cedar Park) explosive scorer with unlimited range but she mixes it up nicely as she creates off the dribble and sets defenders up nicely. When you have NBA range, long and athletic with a devastating first step, your going to be hard to handle but her body control just makes her a threat in so many ways, oh yeah, she plays the passing lane quite well
Amarachi Kimpson-5’7 G- Nickname is SMOOVE and let me say this, that has tons of meanings like me catching her a couple of times on The Gram dropping turnaround 30 footers to win games but her ability to score under pressure as well as the way she scores is second to none. She understands how to take over or get it in the flow but watching her one in one is just…..
Kameryn PhillipsDalanna Carter-5’6 PG (Barbers Hill) probably was in 4th grade when I used those magic words #D1Lock because she was playing with/against 6th and 7th graders that could actually play and going completely off. Nothing has changed except she’s doing it against establish HS players, she has a variety of tools offensively plus she understands temp, runs a tempo well and makes the right decisions
Kameryn Phillips-G (Humble) took home MVP honors after just taking over on both ends. She was always athletic but throw “ultra” in front as she battles players much taller, finishes against those much stronger and attacks the basket from so many angles that you’d think it was a trig problem but she is a problem to defend and with her passion and upside, there’s not telling how high she’ll land
