Today, we will look at a few of the players who enter the Honorable Mention after being unranked.
Taylor Leatherman – Pictured above; Photo Credit – Straight Outta Ohio Girls Hoops (Wadsworth) – When you play 4 years of varsity basketball at Wadsworth High School, you are bound to improve as a player – that is just what Taylor Leatherman has done during her time playing for the Grizzlies. The long and lanky guard can defend the 1-4 positions at the highest level. She rarely misses a mid-range jumper and is a career +40% shooter from beyond the arc. Taylor is another kid who had an outstanding summer AAU season.
Emma Brown (Copley) – Brown is one of the state’s top shooters. She has beautiful form and routinely makes 5, 6 or 7 three-point attempts in a row when she gets hot during in-game action. After missing most of her junior year at Copley with a concussion, Emma had an outstanding summer season on the exposure circuit – flashing glimpses of an offensive game off of the dribble, another reason that Mount Vernon Nazarene University has made her a key component of their 2020 recruiting class.
Makenna Geiser (Dalton) – Geiser has had a tremendous career at Dalton. The Ashland University commit is already over the 1000 career points plateau and she has been named an All-Ohioan on multiple occasions. Geiser is a special playmaker, who never forces the issues on offense. She is at her best, however, when she is aggressive trying to score the basketball.
Jayden Moore (Margaretta) – Jayden is a throwback to previous decades of basketball, where players were hard-nosed and could play inside and out. She is a natural fit in the “positionless” era of the college game that more and more schools are turning to. She plays with a high motor and is constantly putting pressure on defenses around the rim, as a driver and rebounder.
Emily Seboe (Loudonville) – With the number of quality D1 and D2 programs in the state of Ohio – it is surprising at times to see special players leave the state to play collegiately. With that being said – Emily Seboe will be crossing the state border and playing at Huntington University in Indiana, once her time at Loudonville High School is done. Seboe has as much range on her jumper as anyone in Ohio. What makes her special is that she also averaged 13 rebounds and 3 blocks per game last winter, as her Redbirds won 20 games for the 3rd time in her career there.
