Abby Stephens (Uniontown Lake) – It seems as if Stephens became a legitimate D1 prospect overnight, but it should not be a surprise that this is the case. At nearly 6 feet tall, Abby is a point-forward that every college coach would love in their program. She is an excellent rebounder and also has rare playmaking ability and court vision for a player her size. Abby will step out and knock down the 3 or play on the block against defenders of all sizes.
Nakyah Terrell – pictured above; Photo Credit – Canton Rep (Canton McKinley) – At times, Terrell has found herself in the background at Canton McKinley, playing with 3-time Ms. Basketball Kierstan Bell and a host of other talented players. This year, the talented lead guard will finally have her time to shine, as Bell is at Ohio State. Terrell rarely turns the ball over, while breaking down defenses and uses her elite quickness to get in the paint at will. She is a great defender who causes problems all over the floor.
Katie Sprang (West Holmes) – Sprang can certainly play basketball at the collegiate level if she wants to, however, she will have the option to go run track as well – as she is already an All-Ohio mid-distance performer. The super-athlete plays with a high motor. She has an outstanding pull-up game and gets nearly every 50/50 ball that she has a shot at.
Taylor Thomas (Chippewa) – Thomas is a key cog in the constantly reloading machine at Chippewa for Hall of Fame head coach Denny Schrock. Reports from the Elite Camp circuit this summer/fall have been very positive for Thomas – a long off-guard with a quick release and a sniper’s mindset. Thomas has the length and physical tools to rebound and defend at a high level when she chooses to.
Grace Vermilya (Loudonville) – Vermilya shows signs of a potential coming-out party this winter for the Redbirds. The all-district post player is one of the few kids in the Class of 2021 who is comfortable with her back to the basket, something that she showcased all spring and summer against other 4/5’s who are getting recruited at the scholarship level. Grace has a plethora of moves on the block and she is comfortable finishing all of them with both hands.
