Continue ReadingThe PGH Ohio rankings have been updated for the first time since its initial ranking back in the spring, and with the 2022 players, they were posted as a watch list following their freshman season. Over the next few days, the PGH Ohio staff will take a look at some of the top players ranked in the 2022 class.
KK Bransford (Cincinnati Mount Notre Dame)- what a resume already for Bransford, highlighted by a spot on the USA Basketball 16U National Team who captured gold earlier in the summer. Bransford debuts at #1 in the 2022 rankings and for good reason. KK (pictured above, photo by Cincinnati.com) can go anywhere she wants with incredible skills. Total command on the floor, can do it all. Uses athleticism to control the tempo, can run the break, great north-south player. Can score on any defender at the rim.
Grace VanSlooten (Toledo Notre Dame)- a problem for most defenders due to her versatility. A forward who has a complete inside-outside game. Ranked as the #2 player in the 2022 class, she can score at the rim, very persistent rebounder, or can step out with good perimeter range. Sees the floor very well, and is a mismatch because it is difficult to defend her. Drawing attention from everyone. Great basketball IQ.
Cotie McMahon (Centerville)- her ability to take over a game is amazing. Nearly impossible to stop in transition, can finish at the rim with either hand on the break. Very strong physical player, has the great nose for the ball. Great court vision and excellent passer for the best shot available. Rebounds and pushes on the break. Great handles, plays well beyond her years. Comes into the season ranked #3 in her class.
Meghan Downing (Tri Village)- solid post player with good range out to the three. Long and athletic who can run in transition, good handles and can get to the glass. Can score inside or outside, will step out and bury the three over the defender. Good footwork, can rebound and start the break. Strong presence in the paint on defense, alters and blocks shots. Ranked #5 on the updated rankings.
