Mallory Mullen (Springfield Catholic)- likely the best athlete in the Class of 2022, and her basketball game is improving. Uses her athleticism to her advantage, quick on her feet and long and lanky which allows her defend the post well. Jumps out the gym, as the state track high jump champion as a freshman is a strong rebounder. Working on her range, and has good handles which allows her to step outside at times. Good shot blocker, need to keep good body control to continue to be effective in the paint. Mullen is ranked #24 in the latest rankings.
Madelyn Fearon (Arcanum)- the #21 ranked Fearon had a good summer with the Cincy Angels, and is one of the top pure shooters in the class. Good square up shooter, can shoot off the move and the dribble. Effective against a zone and an opposing coach won’t stay in it very long. Can put the ball on the floor and get to the rim. Developing a steady midrange, can knock it down. Very good handles, can take control of the offense if needed. Her game is elevating and so is her stock.
Angie Smith (Yellow Springs)- scoring machine for the Bulldogs. Will take anyone to the basket, uses her quick athleticism to be an effective player. Difficult to defend in the open court, on the break she is too athletic for most defenders. Can push north-south good handles with either hand, and continuing to grow her game. Angie, who is ranked #19 is a quick defender, causes problems up top. Smart basketball IQ, hopefully she will get some more help so she doesn’t have to do it all this season.
Macie Taylor (Troy)- the returning Player of the Year in the new MVL (formerly GWOC) and she earned that as a freshman. Macie (pictured above, photo by Troy Daiiy News) is a strong guard leader, excellent hands and ball control. A bigtime perimeter threat, can shoot the perimeter shot or bury the three. Smart court IQ with good court awareness. She sits #14 in the latest PGH rankings.
