At Prep Girls Hoops, we put a lot of time, thought and networking into building our player rankings. Colorado’s initial set of rankings were compiled by our staff based on input from high school, club and college coaches, as well as media members, from across the state. Players are ranked based on their status as a college prospect.
As we continue to grow and immerse ourselves in the Colorado basketball scene, these rankings will be updated and expanded in the months and years to come.
In the 2020 class, Cherry Creek’s Jana Van Gytenbeek enters the preseason months in as a nearly consensus No. 1 player. After the Stanford-bound guard, Pueblo West’s Hannah Simental (Northern Colorado) and Regis Jesuit’s Jada Moore (Kansas State) round out a top three that has plenty of potential for change. Overall, it’s a guard-heavy class with 14 backcourt players in the top 20.

The 2021 class has 6-foot-3 Grandview post Addison O’Grady as its headliner with players like Highlands Ranch guard Payton Muma and University of Colorado commit Kindyll Wetta nipping at her heals. Plenty of players from southern Denver, Highlands Ranch and Aurora highlight the top 10.

Colorado’s 2022 class features one of the nation’s top recruits in 6-foot-7 forward and USA Basketball team member Lauren Betts of Grandview High. There are plenty of people out there, however, who believe Valor Christian’s Raegan Beers isn’t far off as most think. With plenty of potential for movement among this younger group, it will be fun to see how things develop as these 2022’s continue to improve and get more chances to shine on their respective teams.
