In this article we will take a look at which players in the South Central Conference will be able to consistently drain those big shots for their team.
- Rylee Pickett is a 5’7 2020 guard from Greenville. Rylee is an excellent shooter that can really get hot quickly. She will make you pay if you choose to worry too much about the post. Rylee made a nice run in the State Farm 3 point shootout last year. She lost in a playoff for one of the final four spots in 2A. Rylee will have the chance to have a big senior year with the class of 2019 being gone.
- Lanee McNary is a 5’4 2020 guard from Vandalia. Lanee can really shoot it, she drained 42% of her 3 point shots last year. She hit 89 total shots from deep and shot 76% on free throws. She had a good junior season but will be looked at to step up even more this year.
- Rylee Smith is a 5’6 2021 guard from Piasa. Rylee is an excellent shooter that returns as the leading scorer for the Birds. She had a very good summer with SI Hawks Elite team. Rylee does an excellent job of creating space and hitting the mid range jumper. She has good range out to the 3 pointer and can hit it when she has the space.
- Jill Stayton is a 5’8 2022 guard from Carlinville. Jill is a very good shooter that played good minutes as a freshman. She has a very smooth shot. Jill will get more looks this year to get her shot off. As a freshman there is a big transition but I expect her to take big steps forward this year.
- Sway Denton is a 5’8 2020 guard from Pana. Sway is an excellent scorer. She can hit shots from all over the floor. Sway will be counted on to step up this year. She will take over the scoring role for Coach Storm and be the go to option. Sway drives to the basket very well. This opens up the outside shot for her. Sway will score at all 3 levels. She shoots at a high percentage from all 3 levels.
- Abby Davis is a 5’7 2020 guard from Staunton. Abby had some explosive games last year as a complimentary player. She will need to show her scoring abilities much more consistently this year. With the top scorers graduated she will have opportunities. Abby is an excellent 3 point shooter off the catch.
The conference saw many top players graduate in 2019. With Hillsboro making a state run and many teams winning over 20 games it was a banner year for the SCC. This year, is a new story. The girls you see on this list will need to hit shots consistently if their teams want to come out on top. It will be an exciting year in the SCC.
