Prep Girls Hoops prospect rankings have been compiled by our staff with input from high school, club and college coaches from across the state. Players are ranked on their status as a college prospect. We aim to expand and update our prospects rankings 2-4 times per year to continue to maintain the most comprehensive, accurate prospect rankings in the country. Our next ranking will be in January, 2020, covering the first month of HS BB
.
During the HS season, we will make every effort to see players in multiple games, and highlight their performances. Thanks to streaming video, eg, NFHS, we can better observe skill development.
IMPORTANT STUFF TO KNOW Here are some things to keep in mind as you read the stories and peruse the lists in the Prep Girls Hoops Player Rankings: You can’t pay your way into the rankings and you can’t bully us into saying your kid is great. We’ve got plenty of overzealous folks who do their best to promote their kids, and we’re OK with that. While we appreciate your enthusiasm, bombarding us with propaganda doesn’t help your cause. Really, it doesn’t. We put a lot of time and effort into this. The entire process is anonymous. Evaluators provide fair and honest input because they know it will be kept private. College coaches play a big role in the process, particularly for players in the top 20-30 spots. We have a pretty good handle on who is getting scholarship offers, and what level of offers they are getting. When you see movement at the north end of the list, the input from college coaches has most likely played an important role in that.
Finally – and this is the most important thing – it’s crucial to remember that the rankings are NOT BASED ON CURRENT PERFORMANCE. Prep Girls Hoops evaluates players on the basis of how well they are likely to do at the next level. IT’S ALL ABOUT COLLEGE POTENTIAL. The fact is there are some great high school players who have a build or skill set that is unlikely to transfer well to every college program style. Over 400 annual transfers to/from D1 programs – similar (un-happy player) movement at all other levels.
