Last week I focused on prospects from the classes of 2019, 2020, and 2021. I’ll be focusing on individuals from the class of 2022 and beyond this time around. I’ve gone into more detail on most of these players in my previous articles, but I wanted to further highlight some of the girls who impressed me the most. Here’s part two:
Kamen Wong – 2022 PG (Lady Dragonfly) Frisco Liberty HS – I got to see her play with two separate clubs this summer. I was blown away each time. Wong can score and pass with the best of them. She can morph into whatever her team needs her to be. I compared her to Courtney Vandersloot in my WNBA Comps article, and I completely stand by that. Wong is the epitome of a playmaker.
Aliyah Mohammad – 2022 Combo Guard (Lights Out) – Mohammad has great size and quickness for the guard position at her age. She’s really twitchy. She attacks the glass on defense which allows her to immediately start the break. Her vision is excellent, and she plays with a lot of energy and swagger.
Sibelle Zambie – 2023 SG (Cy Fair Elite) Plano West – Zambie was probably the best shooter I saw this summer. She has a beautiful jump shot and can shoot from anywhere behind the arc. She’s excellent in catch and shoot scenarios. Even though she operates off-ball for the most part, she still plays with a lot of energy. As a Plano West alum, I’m really happy that she’ll be taking and making threes for the Wolves in the coming years.
A’Cya Narcisse – 2023 PG (Lady Drive Nation) – With the class of 2023 still in its infancy, Narcisse has the potential to develop into an elite prospect. She glides to the rim and loves to utilize her euro step to maneuver around taller defenders. She can also drop it off to one of her bigs down low. Narcisse is dangerous when she’s playing downhill.
Nyah Chandler – 2024 SF (Wichita Attack) – Chandler does a little bit of everything for her team. Her high motor allows her to out-rebound players who have the height advantage. She can score in the post, pass, rebound, and can even bring the ball up and initiate the offense. She out-muscled just about everyone I saw her go up against.
Kaitlyn Edwards – 2024 SG (Wichita Attack) – She gets to the line and is an excellent free throw shooter. That’s important at this level because the games can get sloppy at times. Additionally, Edwards moves well without the ball. She is a tremendous three-point shooter with range to spare. She also has a nice little floater in her arsenal.
