We took a look at point and combo guards earlier; now let’s examine at some of the state’s top uncommitted wings from the Class of 2020.
Asia Bryant (Omaha Sports Academy/ Millard North High School)- Bryant was a key role player behind Millard North’s 2019 Class A title run, but after the graduation of three outstanding seniors, the 5’9″ wing will have to expand her scoring to help the Mustangs repeat. A strong, physical driver, Bryant finishes well against contact and consistently gets to the line. The type of player that makes 50/50 balls 70/30 for her team, Bryant is complimenting her repertoire with a developed catch and shoot game as this hard working player continues to round out her all-around game.
Elle Danley (Omaha Sports Academy/ Millard North High School)- Danley’s profile reads much like Bryant’s; a tough, hard nosed player who will have to expand their offensive game to give the Mustangs a chance to defend their title in Lincoln the first weekend in March. Danley is a coach’s dream, as she has already set the school record in charges taken with another season left to go. A high IQ player, she is a very good catch and shoot player whose offensive contributions are due to increase this season.
Kennedy Darner (Omaha Sports Academy/ Millard West High School)- Being a scorer is an attribute, but leading the Adidas U17 Gauntlet in scoring is taking scoring to another level, which is what Darner did this past club season. Darner is one of the best shooters in the state, and at 5’9″, can play either wing position for an explosive Millard West team this season. Her continued development of her off the bounce game will be intregal for her to take her game (and Millard West) back to the state tournament this winter.
McKenna Bray (Nebraska Lasers/ Millard South High School)- Bray has excelled in her role for Millard South the last two seasons as a great offensive player opposite of two Division I players in Maddie Krull (University of South Dakota commit) and returning Gatorade Player of the Year Jayme Horan (Creighton commit), but with the graduation of key role players, Bray has the opportunity to show that she is more than a scorer. A shooter without a conscience, she can score in bunches, and at 5’11”, she can shoot over almost any wing defender. In order to take her game to the next level, Bray needs to expand her post-up game and get to the free throw line more often, but she has a great offensive upside that is difficult to teach.
McKenna Minter (All Nebraska Attack/ Lincoln Northeast High School)- Perhaps the most athletic player in the state, Minter bounced back from a torn ACL her sophmore year to have a very good junior season for the Rockets. This summer, Minter showed that she’s back all the way, and the offers are verifying it. As perhaps Nebraska’s top uncommitted 2020, she holds offers from Seton Hall, Butler, Denver, Wichita State, and Illinois State, with more sure to come. Minter has improved her mid range game to add to her explosive athleticism to the rim, finishing in the top 10 in the Under Armour circuit scoring. A pair of the quickest hands in the state makes McKenna one of the state’s biggest nightmares on both ends of the floor.
Olivia Boudreau (Omaha Sports Academy/ Papillion-LaVista High School)- A vital cog in Papillion-LaVista’s consecutive state tournament trips the last two seasons, Boudreau will have to pick up the scoring slack for the Monarchs the graduation of her running mate from last season’s squad, Josey Ryan, . A great shooter who doesn’t need alot of room to get her shot off, Boudreau should be one of the top scorers in Class A after averaging almost 15 points a game last year. Boudreau can get double-digits in a quarter at any time, and she can carry a team offensively for stretches.
