I am not surprised one bit, but some all around the country might be, because they were sleeping on this talent from day one. 2020, 5’10, CG, Oaks Christian HS, Taylor Donaldson is a beast in our book, she is a player like no other we have seen and most did not know about her back in March 2019. We built a timeline for her success and when we took a good look at it, it was amazing how a kid with no offers could turn it around and then end her journey and commit with 6 offers in her bag. She literally got the first offer on June 23, 2019 from CSUN, then followed by Fresno State, New Mexico State, LIU Brooklyn, California Baptist and LBSU.
Here is what we think about Taylor Donaldson game:
Taylor Donaldson is a genuine combo-guard that is very well capable of handling the rock as the point guard in any coaches offense, but her best attribute is her knack for being able to score in numerous ways and from all three levels on the court. She is a natural bucket-getter, she is always on the attack, most coaches missed that this spring and summer due to the player personnel on the floor with her at West Coast Elite. Shot are limited when you play on a AAU Circuit Shoe Company team, so you will not get the full effect of her game in that environment. Taylor is resilient, she went into the lab after the Spring period and reworked some of her game skill sets and then showcased them on the circuit for all to see. She showed the coaches she was a scorer, they said she could not shoot the three in the Spring, she proved them wrong by shooting over 40% in the July in big games and showed her ability to score from all three levels. Her defensive game is impeccable, she is a genuine defensive stopper and has always been since she has played the game. She is long at 5’10, she can sit down on defense and guard position 1 – 4, giving her team some flexibility on the floor. If you missed out on this one, New Mexico State got a steal, this girl was good enough to play anywhere in the country with the type of skill set and high basketball IQ. Major upside for this kid, she will be an impact freshman at New Mexico State this year, that is my prediction. Congrats Taylor, you deserve all of this recognition and you did something most will not do, you are going to a place where they LOVE YOU and it is a good fit.
