Continue ReadingWe released the 2022 California Rankings this morning and it should be a good conversation piece, remember, we at PGH California will only rank girls we have seen, that means the committee members around California have put eyes on these girls and have actually seen them play. Does nothing for us to put a girl on the list that none of us have seen. With that being said, lets take a good look at the rankings and see if we are on the money or just plain missed the bus on some of these kids, I believe we are spot on with the majority of the kids we have seen play. Opinion of kids really plays a role in everyone’s decision making and also when you have a dog in the race. Enjoy these opinions and go with it, it will be changing again by February or March after the season is over. Get your stock up and keep working hard, we are out there watching very closely. Again, thanks for the support of PGHCalfornia.
#2 Overall – 2022, 5’5, PG, Corona Santiago HS (CA), Londynn Jones is a dynamic point guard with the uncanny ability to finish in the paint amongst the trees. She shoots the ball well out to the arc, midrange is good and her drive is immaculate to the rim thru contact. She is a leader in all aspects of the game, very vocal and very prideful in the game, almost to the point that she is determined to will herself to make her team win. She defends well, runs the break and makes the right passes at times, but she is a shooting guard in a point guards body. Major upside on this player as well. Very exciting to watch her play, she is electric……
#5 Overall – 2022, 5’4, PG, Providence HS, Jyah LoVett is a strong, crafty, quick point guard that demands you guard her, cause she is going to score on you. She will lull you with her change of direction, then her change of speed and then she is laying the ball up, before you can stop her. She is a coaches dream, runs the offense to her coaches liking and can get a bucket at will, no matter who is guarding her. This kid is going to be major….
#11 Overall – 2022, 6’2, PF/C, St. Mary’s Academy (CA), Chloe Williams is a dynamic forward/post type that has a nice feel for the game. We first saw Chloe in a Semi-Final game last season versus Oxford Academy and she was phenomenal, but they could not capture the win in that game. She has major post presence in the paint, she can use her left or right hand to finish, has a decent midrange shot and is capable of bringing the ball down the floor and getting it to the guard. We like her agility, she runs the floor like a gazelle and is probably one of the most athletic bigs in her class. Impressed with her performance at this camp, looked a little out of shape though, but that is minor before a season start.
