Charia Roberts, 2020, Pikesville
Charia Roberts of Pikesville looks better than ever and is poised to have a monster senior season. Charia looks healthy, spry and more explosive than ever. After a successful summer campaign that saw her switch from her long time home with the Maryland Lady Tigers to the Maryland Lady Terps, she committed to Loyola University. With the pressure of recruiting business lifted from her plate she can focus on school and having a big season as her team chases another championship. Charia is a double double machine and seems to have improved her footwork on both ends of the court this summer. She looks like an early Baltimore County player of the year candidate.
Anii Harris, 2020, Howard
Anii will be at the top of the Howard county scoring list and in the conversation for player of the year. Recently committed to Salem University, Anii has looked impressive every week during the fall. Already an explosive athlete with ridiculous body control, she has improved her handle and is more confident shooting the jumper. She straps up on defense and is capable of guarding bigger players which helps her team tremendously. I see a big senior campaign on the horizon for her.
Jada Nadal, Good Counsel, 2022
could emerge as a major contributor for Good Counsel. The sophomore guard is big and tough and plays a physical style of ball. She’s been scoring from the perimeter and in the paint and plays with a chip on her shoulder. She’ll need all of that in the ultra competitive WCAC league.
Jaela Reid, Meade, 2022
I really wish this kid was dedicated to basketball only and played for a big time summer program. She is a standout track athlete and a damn good basketball player too. At 5’10” she is versatile enough to guard the post and comfortable pushing the ball and leading the break. She is a great slasher and finishes well around the rim. If she focused on hoops only she would be a big time prospect, and still might be.
Jasmine Johnson, St. Timothy’s, 2021
Jasmine definitely has some legit size at about 6’2″, and can put the ball in the basket. Each week it seems like she is pulling out a new finishing move or trying to do something new. St. Timothy’s should have a solid team but my guess is that there success will depend on how much they get from Ms. Johnson.
