Continue ReadingThere has been some talk on social media over which high school leagues are sending the most kids off to college, but there is one league that is right near or at the top year after year and that is the Great Spokane League (GSL). It only makes sense that the GSL consistently has the most team success in the state tournament as well. The depth of talent for so many teams in the area is impressive and has not slowed down with this year’s senior class. I recently announced the commitment of University High School’s Tyler and Jacksen McCliment-Call to the University of Portland. Another GSL college prospect’s commitment has been made public as well.
2020 6’0 SF Olivia Mayer of Gonzaga Prep High School has given a verbal to Eastern Washington, marking their third in state commitment for the class. Olivia joins Maisie Burnham (Liberty HS) and Aaliyah Alexander (Todd Beamer HS) as apart of the 2020 recruiting class. Olivia has good length and a bit of an inside-out game with room for growth. She has dealt with some injuries the last couple years, but she looks to have a strong senior season and keep the momentum rolling into her freshman year with EWU.
With Olivia’s commitment to EWU, the GSL now has 7 players committed to the Division 1 level:
Jayda Noble (Mt. Spokane HS) – Washington
Elizabeth Boni (University HS) – Colorado State
Tyler McCliment-Call (University HS) – Portland
Jacksen McCliment-Call (University HS) – Portland
Joelnell Momberg (Mead HS) – Montana
Peyton Howard (Central Valley HS) – Seattle U
Olivia Mayer (Gonzaga Prep) – EWU
There is still a potential for some more in due time and there will surely be some Division 2, Division 3 and NAIA signees when it is all said and done. We will be sure to keep everyone up to date as prospects move along with their recruitment status.
