It is also an acquired skill, as many natural scorers are more successful at first with greater volume. To be an efficient scorer as an underclassman shows a veteran instinct to combine with natural skills. This list is going to look at which sophomores were able to score the most points last year as sophomores.
Kelsie Woodard Kelsie Woodard 6'1" | C Menifee County | 2021 State KY , Menifee County – Woodard’s efficiency last year was incredible, as she managed to score the most points per 32 minutes among all sophomores last season while also playing the most minutes of anyone on this list. She averaged 17.0 points per 32 while playing 26.8 minutes per game.
Braylee McMath Braylee McMath 5'6" | PG Great Crossing | 2021 State KY , Scott County – Scott County has a strong team going into this season, with a lot of players looking to contribute big minutes. McMath showed last year that she has the ability to contribute even without playing a lot of minutes for a great team. She averaged 14.7 points per 32 while only playing 13 minutes per game. Hopefully, she will be able to maintain this efficiency while seeing more minutes going forward.
Tompkins Kenady, Scott County – Continuing with more efficient players from the loaded Scott County team, Kenady was able to achieve strong efficiency in a much different way than her teammate. While McMath is a perimeter player, Kenady dominates on the inside, thriving on put-backs and other shots close to the basket. She averaged 14.4 points per 32 minutes and should be able to maintain that efficiency as she continues to be a physical force in the paint.
Sydney Raque Sydney Raque 5'11" | SG Christian Academy Louisville | 2021 State KY , Christian Academy-Louisville – Raque places at a fast pace, which helps to explain her efficiency. She loves getting out in transition, which helps create more scoring opportunities, allowing her to score more points in fewer minutes. Those skills combined with a good three-point shot allowed her to score 9.0 points per 32 minutes last year and should be even more valuable to her team as she gets more minutes going forward.
Carley Cullop, Ashland Blazer – Cullop has developed a strong all-around game thus far in her career. She has largely been a three and D player for her team, and as such efficiency is a must. She scored 7.1 points per game last year, making the most of relatively few shot opportunities by shooting the ball well from beyond the arc. Hopefully, she can maintain that efficiency if she starts taking more shots this season.
