The event was a great success, in large part to the players, parents, and coaches that were in attendance. There were so many standout performances throughout the day, but here are some under the radar prospects that I think should be talked about a little more:
Shiloh-Tri County’s Bella Dudley made a statement early on that she was going to be a force on Saturday. The 5’8” Sophomore Guard has all the tools offensively, to go along with great size and strength. Dudley can knock down shots from outside, but her ability to attack the lane and create open looks for herself is very impressive.
Talia Pellegrini is a 5’8” Junior from St. Charles North who is the face of consistency. She has a great motor on both ends, giving an all-out effort any time she’s on the court. Pellegrini runs the floor well in transition and possesses the strength to finish in traffic. She’s a plus shooter from deep and really impresses with her on-ball defense.
Benet Academy Junior PG Molly Sheehan was one of the best passers and ball handlers at the Top 250 Expo.A 5’9” Point Guard from Lyons Township, Junior Lindsey Hahn just keeps getting better, especially on the offensive end. She’s always been a strong ball handler with good moves in the open court, but her decision making and ability to finish at the rim make her such a well-rounded player. Hahn was also one of the top shooters at the event.
Benet Academy Junior Molly Sheehan is one of the best ball handlers and passers in the Chicagoland area. The 5’8” Point Guard is tough to stay in front of and is always looking to create shots for her teammates. In addition, she has a consistently good-looking shot from deep and can catch fire easily. I was also impressed by Sheehan’s on-ball defense and how tough she made things on opposing PG’s.
Sophie Swanson from Barrington High School is one to keep an eye on in this 2023 class. A 5’9” Shooting Guard, Swanson has a great high-arching shot from deep and knocks them down at a high rate. She also showed the ability to attack the lane under control and finish amongst taller defenders. Very mature and composed for a Freshman.
A 5’11” Guard from Stevenson, Simone Sawyer is one of the better Shooting Guards in the Class of 2022. She has great athleticism all around, and really thrives at driving the ball to the hoop. Her speed is tough to match, and her length gives her an advantage to finish over most defenders. Defensively she does an excellent job at staying in front and disrupting passing lanes.
