If you like high level girls basketball and good play, you are in the right place to witness it. We will bring articles, stories, interviews and video to this media outlet like never before, so please stay tuned and enjoy our team rankings listed below.
#1: Sierra Canyon High School
Coach Alicia Komaki: CIFSS Open Runner Up; (33-1) (7-0) Gold Coast League Champion, CIF Regional Champion and CIF State Champs Open Division. They are led by 2020, 5’7, PG, Vanessa De Jesus (Duke commit), 2020, 5’7, CG, Ashley Chevalier (Texas commit), 2020, 6’0, SF, Alexis Mark (Boise State commit) and 2020, 6’2, PF, Rosemary Odebunmi.
Sierra Canyon will be one of the Nations power teams this season with their last years campaign coming out with a CIFSS Regional and State Championship. They are led by five D1 Players and that is very hard to deal with in todays basketball in California, there are not many schools in the state that can say that they are starting (5) Division 1 players and will compete for the State Championship again this year. Some up North may be close, but we think Sierra Canyon is the lock for State this year coming from the Southern Section.
#2: Bishop Montgomery High School
Coach Noelle Quinn; CIFSS Division I – (23-7) (8-0) in Del Rey League; they are led by 2022, 6’0, SF, Khylee Pepe. 2020s, Nicole Hayase, Cyan Dyke, Kayla Moody, Autumn Kirby, April Perez and Emaya Trahan.
Bishop Montgomery is that team that you have to take a good look at, Noelle Quinn has these girls playing and they are going to be really good this year as well. They almost gave Sierra Canyon a shocker last year in the Semi Final, but did not have enough in the tank to outlast the onslaught brought by Sierra Canyon. Watch Bishop Montgomery this season, they will be just as tough or even tougher than last years team.
#3: Windward High School
Coach Vanessa Nygaard; CIFSS Division 1 – (26-6) (5-1) in Gold Coast League; they are led by 2020, 6’1, SG, Kiayah Corona (Dartmouth), 2021, 5’11, SG, McKayla Williams (Gonzaga) and Freshman Phenom 2023, 6’1, CG, Judea Watkins
Windward will be tough again as well, They upset #1 Sierra Canyon last year in the CIFSS Open Championships behind the play of McDonalds All-American Charisma Osborne (UCLA commit). They are going to be good as well with the addition of the #1 Freshman in the Nation with Judea Watkins. With the solid experience they have and the new blood on this team, they are going to be a force to reckon with. We believe they will mesh together this year so well, by the Christmas break and be on their way to putting in some major work.
#4: Etiwanda High School
Coach Stan Delus; CIFSS Division 1 – (26-6) (10-0) in Baseline League; they are led by 2020s, 5’7, SG, Brianna Clayton, 5’7, PG, Breanne Ha, 5’6, PG, Joy Campbell, 6’1, PF, Destiny Okonkwo, 5’9, SF, Ayanna Flakes with new Addition of Junior, 2021, 6’2, PF, Jessica Peterson
Etiwanda is always tough, Stan Delus does a fantastic job with his girls, they are always tough and will wear you down with their physical defensive game as well as dynamic offensive power. They are always in the game when you play them, they always have a chance to win against an opponent, cause they make you play their game. Watch for this program, they are fierce.
#5: Redondo Union High School
Coach Marcelo Enriquez; CIFSS Division 1 – (24-6) (10-1) in Bay League; they are led by 2020s, 6’1, SF, Lauren Chao, 5’10, G, Anna Johnson, 5’10, F, Lauren Krause, 5’6, PG, Megan No and 5’4, PG, Alyssa Munn.
Redondo is that fundamental team you hate to play, because they are going to run their system and their is nothing you can do about it. Marcelo Enriquez keeps these girls playing hard and fundamental, they rarely make mistakes and that is why they are another team that will always be in the game with you no matter what. Redondo is dangerous in any game, watch them this year and be amazed.
