After playing with Tree of Hope’s 16u squad this summer, Taliyah has picked up lots of serious interest from a handful of Division 1 schools. I recently caught up with the 5’10 wing to see how her Fall is going, as well as what her recruitment is looking like at this stage.
“I’ve mostly been doing a bunch of conditioning and focusing on my handles! I’ve also done fall league with my school every Sunday.” Bishop Blanchet finished the season 10-11 a year ago, but Taliyah is excited to see how this year goes and she has high expectations of herself. “I feel like we’re going to be a solid team. We have a couple of girls who can hoop and who are ready for this season.” Taliyah averaged 20 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists in her sophomore year, but she is really focusing in on her leadership this season, “For myself, I expect to do better than I did last year. I need to be more of a vocal leader on the court, and keep my teammates engaged in the game and what we’re supposed to be doing.”
Taliyah’s continued growth and maturity on the floor has caught the attention of many colleges. She has heard from Weber State, UC San Diego, Saint Mary’s, Colorado State, Nevada, Portland, Tulane, Seattle U, Princeton, and Air Force Academy. She noted that Weber State, Colorado State, Tulane, and Seattle U are showing the most interest right now. Hometown Seattle University will be the first visit for the powerful wing and she plans to visit this Thursday (10/24).
“I’m looking for a family like feeling and just a great group of girls, making sure everyone’s always trying to bring each other up, and a good coach for sure. One that truly cares about YOU, and not just how you can hoop.” Taliyah stated that there is no timeline for making a decision on a school and she is 100% open at this stage. Whichever school gets Taliyah Clark will be getting a high level scorer with the ability to get it done at all three levels.
