I recently had the opportunity to catch up with one of the top 2022’s in the state to see what she has been up to this Fall, how the recruitment process is going and what she is looking for in a college.
Aniyah says that she has been doing a mixture of training and conditioning to prepare for the high school season. Pasco is coming off of an 11-10 season, but the lineup was heavily dominated by freshman, including Aniyah. “Individually, you can expect me to be a huge contributor on both ends of the court -to help my team’s success. As a group, our goal is to get to state.” These are big expectations for the 5’6 guard, but if there is one thing that stands out about her game, it is her confidence on the court. Pasco does not have a history of being really strong basketball program, but the expectations have been raised with players like Aniyah willing to take on the challenge of turning the program around.
As far as recruiting goes, Aniyah says it has been going great so far. “A lot of interest coast to coast. I have done some showcasing with my travel team during the college viewing period and have also done some individual showcases to broaden my exposure.” At this stage, she is wide open with her recruitment and just taking it all in step by step as she continues to work on her game. She plans to narrow in on some schools to take official visits when the time comes.
Aniyah is a strong ball handler and sees the floor well. She plays comfortably on or off the ball and is a legitimate shooting threat from beyond the three line. Her frame is strong and her work ethic is there to continue to improve in her all around game. She projects as a Division 1 prospect and will run with Vanessa McClendon’s NW Magic “Team Huff” next spring and summer.
