Zar’ria Mitchell is one of those young stars. The 5’4″ point guard attends Heritage High School and plays grassroots basketball with Michigan Storm Elite.
Mitchell has an extremely impressive skill set. She’s an excellent ball handler, using both her dominant and off hand. Mitchell uses her ball skills, speed, and lateral quickness to create her own shot. This in turn can create openings for her teammates. Mitchell has a nice looking jumper, with the ability to shoot from deep with consistency.
Mitchell is just a freshmen, so her improvement and experience will guide her growth as a player. She is focused on improving defensively. All the tools are there, so with continued work, her defensive improvement should be strong. She considers playing at a high level in the Under Armour Circuit, her best basketball experience so far. Mitchell is looking forward to a matchup with state powerhouse Detroit Edison during high school season.
Zar’ria Mitchell has a lot to offer a college program in the future. Every coach at the next level wants a quick and dynamic lead guard in her mold. She will, above all else, bring a warriors mentality to the basketball court. Mitchell’s work ethic will help her to be a highly regarded prospect in Michigan. She will also bring a well rounded student and person to a college program. Mitchell is active in the Ivylette Youth Group and is a member of the Black Student Union.
Mitchell is driven by her goals. For the upcoming high school season, she wants to average 14 points per game, 5 assists per game, and 3 steals per game. Mitchell also wants to be voted as an All State player. She has lofty, but very obtainable long term goals. Mitchell wants to win a state championship and play Division 1 college basketball. She also wants to be a leader for her team both on and off the court.
Zar’ria Mitchell is a special basketball talent and is motivated to be great in all aspects of life.
