Tuesday we updated our player rankings, and I wanted to take the time to touch on each position group one by one. This collection of Point Guards has become a strength in this class, especially at the top, with five prospects finding themselves in the Top-10 overall, and in turn drawing a great deal more college attention than one year ago. Below we take a look at the Top-20 Point Guard prospects in Indiana’s Class of 2021, with additional comments to follow.

One player I will be very excited to see early on this Winter is Ally Becki of Brownsburg High School. The quick/fast and athletic combo guard severly injured her knee during the Sectional Round last Winter, and she ended up missing the entire grassroots season because of it. She has a great feel for the game, she’s a solid ball-handler and passer, and she plays with a great toughness and energy at both ends of the floor. She has worked hard to be game-ready by the beginning of November, and I’d anticipate seeing her come out on a mission at that time. She did commit to Ball State University earlier this Fall.
Another player returning to form following a severe knee injury is Carley Culberson of Yorktown High School. Carley was actually injured playing Junior Varsity football last Fall, so she was able to return to action this past July and had some really good flashes of what she used to be. She should be 100% by the time the season starts, and I’d anticipate her causing problems for opponents like she did her Freshman year when she averaged 15.1 points per game, leading the Tigers in scoring. She is long, fast, and very active at both ends of the floor.
Avon High School’s Genesis Castro is a player who definitely flies under the radar. She is a strong, tough-nosed, highly skilled, traditional Point Guard with a great feel for the game…she’s just shorter. She has a very quick and tight handle, she creates space well with the dribble, she finds teammates on-time/on-target, plus she’s a good rhythm shooter from outside and can bury shots when defenders give her too much space. She is one of the better game managers in this class, and she is incredibly consistent.
I’ve been a big fan of Taylor Cooney’s since I first saw her in 8th Grade, and she’s done nothing but improve her skill & understanding, gotten stronger, and grown several inches. She is very long, fluid, and smooth in all directions. She is a capable perimeter shooter, she slices by defenders to the basket, but she is great at taking care of the basketball, setting tempo, and making sure things run smoothly for a talented Greensburg High School team that plays extremely hard and very fast.
With the graduation loss of Kara Gealy, I’d anticipate Grace Sullivan stepping right in and taking over the Point Guard reins at Homestead High School after serving as Kara’s primary backup last season. Grace is little, but she’s extremely quick/fast, very feisty, and she really understands how to play. She can create offense for others, get to the basket, and she does a nice job of using the free throw line as a weapon. If she can improve anywhere, it would be to become more of a threat around the perimeter. She is a very active and aggressive on-ball defender though.
Another prospect who is somewhat unknown at this time is Brooklyn Stubblefield of Greenwood Community High School. Brooklyn followed up a really nice Winter for Greenwood with an impressive Spring & Summer grassroots season. She is a little, quick/fast, and extremely active Point Guard prospect. She plays at a high speed and could stand to understand tone and when to change speeds a little better, but she is a playmaker who plays with outstanding effort & energy. She can run the offense, create for herself or others, make shots from the perimeter, plus she’s a gnat defensively.
