Losing leading scorer Taylor Thomas as well as Mallory Gibson and Jaida Herndon could have meant it was a regrouping season yet the talent didn’t stop there, especially in the 2021 class which has three of the states top players on the squad but I’ll start with a sharpshooting senior and after seeing their fall league video against Hightower, well you watch it
Marchelle Willis-G- what is one of my favorite sayings, size don’t matter, when you can play and the talented senior has consistently shown she can light it up from beyond the arc but what I enjoy more than anything is the fact that she has added a nice “catch and shoot” to her repertoire as well as taking defenders off the dribble but lets no leave out her aggressive defense which will come in handy during the season
Dala Allen-P/PF- at a shade under the magic number, that’s 6’0, she made a huge jump over the summer and had several impressive performances in which she controlled the paint. Her energy and desire will go a long way as how far this team goes because she rebounds on both ends, finishes strong and defends inside and outside but watching her bring it numerous times tells me a whole lot
Aleighya Fontenot-G- the old folks used to have an old saying “I knew you before you were born” and I used to hate hearing it yet now that I’m old, I love saying it as I actually knew her parents before she was born and I’ve watched her progress from I guess the 3rd grade when she was a post into becoming of the top long ball shooters in her 2021 class. I’ve watched her drop 8 threes en route to 40 plus as a freshman to mixing it up numerous ways from mid to long-range
Raven AdamsRaven Adams-PG-one of the top in the state, all classes and I’m not just saying that. The poise I saw from her in elementary school sold me, what 4th or 5th grade and with Mid to BCS offers coming in, others have taken notice as well. The game has and will always start at the one and watching what she has become solidifies yet again I was right. She understands how to run a team and knows when to take over a game, her passes are college-level now, well they’ve been that for a minute
