Here are some of our favorite pick pocketers who have tricks for opponents and treats for their own teams:
Emani Jefferson (5’5 Sr) of North Port swiped 7.9 steals per game last year as a Junior. She’s incredibly quick and can do a little bit of everything with a line of 28.7 ppg and 13.1 rpg. It’s no surprise why she is committed to continue her career at D1 Wright State. Watch your bag around her, she’s liable to snatch it!
Maraya Cheek (5’4 Fr) will be playing her HS ball at Armwood after swiping 7.9 spg as an eighth grader at the varsity level for SLAM Tampa. She also was their leading scorer and passer with 21.9 ppg and 4.7 apg. Maraya will be an exciting player to watch grow and develop over the course of her career.
Tenaya Bennett (5’6 Jr) of Real Life Christian Academy had an average of 7.3 steals per contest during her Sophomore season. RLCA returns a bulk of their roster on a winning team, and Tenaya is not a player you want matched up against you unless you enjoy having your candy stolen in plain sight.
Amari Hunter (5’6 Jr) of Keys Gate contributes all the way across the board. Her stats for last year were 19.8 ppg, 5.9 rpg, 4.8 apg, and 6.7 spg. Her team returns a lot of their talent after a tremendous 27 win season. She’s ready to pick even more pockets for some goodies this year!
Kailyn Gilbert (5’8 So) of Tampa Prep has her name on just about every list, and she’s only played one year of high school basketball. She scores at an elite rate, rebounds well as a guard, and also had 6.5 steals on average last year. There really isn’t enough great things you can say about her game, and she’s shaping up to have one of the best careers we’ve ever seen with plenty of sugarcoated candy in store for her.
Kayla Grant (5’10 Sr) of Wesley Chapel averaged a double-double last season (15.5 ppg and 10.7 rpg), so adding 6.5 steals a game just goes to show how well-rounded she is. Kayla is the talent player on this list, but she’s willing to reach into the lowest of pockets to get her sugar fix.
Zaida Gonzalez (5’9 Jr) of Palm Beach Lakes just transferred from Leonard HS where she had some impressive underclassmen years. As a Sophomore, she had 6.4 steals per game to go with 15.1 ppg and 7.3 rpg. Zaida is a fantastic player who is joining a talented team that will look to make a deep run with her imposing, lengthy presence on both ends of the court worthy of grabbing out of anyone’s candy bucket.
Nikaejah Green (5’8 Jr) of Lake Weir made huge strides in her game from her Freshman year to this past season, and she will look to continue that improvement. She snagged 6.3 steals a game and bumped up her scoring and rebounding to 15.6 and 6.3, respectively. Absolutely no one’s candy bowl is safe around Nikaejah.
Taviyanna Habib (5’9 Jr) is another Armwood baller that will pick your pocket with her quick hands and lengthy reach. She also averaged a double-double (15.7 ppg and 10.3 rpg) to go with her 6.2 steals per contest. Better keep an eye on your candy, because this Armwood team in on the prowl!
Brooke Bogatz (5’4 Sr) of Park Vista is really fun to watch on both ends of the floor, and especially on defense. She’s usually smaller than her opponent, but plays much bigger as shown by her huge stat line of 21 ppg, 5.9 rpg, 6.6 apg, and 6.1 spg. Brooke will get up in your face on D and grab your sweets before you can even say Boo.
