With the update comes new analysis, starting with the updated Top Ten breakdown. Let’s take a look at the new top 10 in 2022.
Amiya Jenkins, Anderson County – A long and athletic wing prospect who transferred from Henry Clay after her freshman year, Jenkins is a tremendous defender and uses her athleticism to get past defenders and can make threes. Amiya has tremendous upside as a wing recruit.
Jaileyah Cotton, Bardstown – Early indications are that Cotton could be the best scorer in the Sophomore class. She put up huge scoring numbers last year and is only going to get better. Like most in the class, she has a ways to go as a defender but Jaileyah is going to keep becoming a more complete player.
Patience Laster, Franklin County – Patience is a throwback pure post player who is an excellent low block scorer but needs to add to her game as other players catch up. After averaging 10.6 points and 8.6 rebounds last season, look for Laster to average a double-double this season.
Halle Langhi, Marshall County – Don’t sleep on Langhi as a serious competitor for the #1 spot in the class. With her combination of size and skill (and NBA dad genetics), there is a chance that Langhi could be a Power 5 recruit in the near future.
Rachel Presley, South Laurel – Recently transferred from Somerset, Presley was one of the most impressive players at last month’s Elite 80 event. Rachel has great size and defensive timing. She has polished post moves and is only going to get better as she adds some range on her jumpshot.
Daisha White, DuPont Manual – By far the most modest statistics of the the top 10 as a freshman, White has the the potential to make a serious jump in her second year. Daisha has the tools to be a D1 player and this spot on the rankings is a gamble that she will reach that potential.
Macie Feldman, Notre Dame – Macie had a strong Freshman year and 15u AAU season and is only going to improve as she becomes a more efficient scorer. Feldman is a good shooter from deep and should shoot a higher percentage from the field in her Sophomore year.
Jaya McClure, Christian Academy Louisville – Jaya should see a big increase in her scoring numbers this season. But she should also see an increase in her role as a leader for a team. Keep an eye out for McClure and CAL in the 7th region this season.
Alyssa Elswick, Shelby Valley – New to the rankings, Alyssa had a huge Freshman year last season when she upped her production after teammate Cassidy Rowe’s injury. After 14.7 points and 6 rebounds last season, Elswick could put together averages of 20 and 10 this season.
Mia Hale, Estill County – Mia showed an improved shooting stroke last month at the Elite 80 Event and that can be the key to a breakout Sophomore year. She does a lot to affect the game outside of scoring but if Hale can shoot the ball better this season, she could have a huge year.
