Crown Point- Jessica Carrothers, 2022, Dash Shaw, 2020, & Alyna Santiago, 2021
Crown Point has a star studded backcourt led by sophomore Jessica Carrothers (21.6 ppg, 5.5 rpg, 3.1 apg, 4.7 spg). She had a great freshman season and is already one of the best players in the class of 4A. Her ability to score the basketball and find teammates in transition is a beautiful thing to watch. Crown Point gets another elite scorer this season in Dash Shaw (24.3 ppg, 2.7 rpg, 2.4 spg). These two will give head coaches nightmares game in and game out. Adding to the already impressive backcourt, Santiago (6.7 ppg, 3.6 rpg, 2.2 apg, 4.2 spg) is one of the state’s best on-ball defenders, which is a nice complement to the other two guards.

Hamilton Southeastern- Sydney Parrish, 2020, Jackie Maulucci 2020, & Lydia Self 20201
HSE returns all-world guard Sydney Parrish (21.0 ppg, 6.9 rpg, 2.5 apg), who is fresh off winning a state title last season. Parrish is not only one of the best players in the class of 4A, but is also one of the best players in the state of Indiana. HSE loses a lot of quality players from last season, however they are still not lacking in the talent department. Starter Jackie Maulucci (7.2 ppg, 2.4 rpg) returns for her senior season and is poised for a breakout year. Lydia Self (3.8 rpg) has stayed ready for her opportunity, and is a great shooter from behind the three-point line.

Jayla Smith (14.1 ppg, 2.2 rpg) is a lethal scorer, who is excellent at getting to her spot and knocking down shots at a high percentage. Smith is one of the top girls in the class of 2021, and she will look towards putting another strong season together this year. Katie Davidson (10.4 ppg, 3.9 rpg) displays a great deal of toughness, coming up with rebounds and fighting for loose balls and steals. Kristian Young’s (9.2 ppg, 4.2 rpg, 2.8 apg) play was fantastic during the tournament run from last season and hoping to carry that into this season.

Brownsburg- Ally Becki, 2021, Allison Bosse, 2020, & Mackenzie Stien 2020
Becki (13.4 ppg, 5.5 rpg, 4.4 apg, 3.5 spg) is coming off a knee injury that really hurt Brownsburg’s chances in the tournament last season, and is all ready to go for this season. She is really well-rounded and can do a little bit of everything on the court. Bosse (15.7 ppg, 2.6 rpg, 2.9 spg) was the leading scorer for the bulldogs last season, forming a dynamic duo with backcourt mate Becki. Mackenzie Stien (8.5 ppg, 3.1 rpg, 2.0 apg) is a versatile wing that can play multiple positions, which is a great asset for any team.

Northwestern- Madison Layden, 2020, Klair Merrell, 2020, Jena Loer, 2021
Northwestern must overcome a few players departing due to graduation, but it’s hard not to include them as one of the best backcourts when you have a player like Madison Layden (21.9 ppg, 4.8 rpg, 6.7 apg, 5.1 spg). Her numbers speak for themselves, although it is impact to her team that really stands out for me. Layden’s sister, McKenna Layden will also be playing this season as a freshman. I like that senior guard Klair Merrell (7.2 ppg, 2.9 rpg, 3.4 apg) is returning as well, since it provides more veteran leadership. Junior guard Jena Loer will be expected to take on more of an expanded role this year for Northwestern.
