Conroe pulled off a big win against New Caney without their talented sophomore PG Kennedy Powell who’ll be back early in district play and Alvin was without scoring and long-range shooting sensation Mercedes Mancha Mercedes Mancha 5'7" | CG Alvin | 2022 State TX , also a sophomore, who’ll be back next week, I’ll try to catch her at FBISD Tournament but there were several standouts on opening day and here are
Isabella Stafford Isabella Stafford 5'8" | SG Conroe | 2022 State TX Conroe
Isabella Stafford Isabella Stafford 5'8" | SG Conroe | 2022 State TX -5’10 G (Conroe) the juniors offensive session was on full display as she hit the mid to long-range consistently and helped lead them to an overtime victory. She not only wanted the ball under pressure, she delivered time and time again but she also managed to get her teammates involved
Tori Garza Tori Garza 5'8" | SG New Caney | 2021 State TXTori Garza Tori Garza 5'8" | SG New Caney | 2021 State TX -5’10 G (New Caney) what can I say about her that I haven’t already said except she’s a nightmare to defend, but I’ve probably said that numerous times as well. Unlimited range, puts up numbers in the flow and creates under pressure sort of sums it up yet she’s mixing it up offensively as well and that keeps defenses guessing
Tyra Davis Nimitz
Tyra Davis-5’8 G (Nimitz) that pull-up in transition from the senior was certainly a sight to see and one thing I love is watching powerful players explode off the ground for their jumper and hit the shot consistently. She knows where her spots are, there’s no denying her from getting there and she just brought it
Makayla Patterson North Shore
Makayla Patterson-5’6 G (North Shore) watching the maturity over the years from the senior guard has been pleasant, to say the least as she was ice under pressure during the stretch. She attacked the basket all the through the game, made jumpers and knocked down numerous free throws in the final minutes
Emma Robles Alvin
Emma Robles-5’7 G (Alvin) smooth and efficient performance from the talented junior as she showed she could shoot it from distance, consistently, while also attacking the basket and finishing with contact. On top of that, she handled the pressure from the defense and saw the floor nicely, setting up teammates for easy baskets
Destiny Maddox Cy Lakes
Destiny Maddox-5’3 G (Cy Lakes) I opened this story up with you have to “seize the opportunity” and boy did she as she dropped three long ones in a row down the stretch and probably 4 or 5 for the game, who knows, maybe more but she helped ignite a second-half run double-digit deficit to help her team pull off a huge win
Laila Blair Laila Blair 5'8" | CG Waller | 2020 State TX Waller
Laila Blair Laila Blair 5'8" | CG Waller | 2020 State TX -5’9 PG (Waller) the University of Houston signee showed why she’s one of the best seniors in Texas dropping 32 points multiple ways, 11 steals and 10 assists for that triple-double and she was just shy of a quadruple but none of that matters because she can play, just flat out play and I saw that back in middle school
