The Dallas Mavericks put on a great event called the Dallas Mavericks Fall Classic it brings together the best schools in the Dallas area to play in a 32 Team Bracket series to find out who is the best in the area and put together their Preview Season Rankings in my opinion. We watched teams play from Friday – Saturday and we were impressed with the talent that the state of Texas has to offer in girls basketball. The arena was fabulous and the kids had major fun on that professional floor, being the home of the Dallas Mavericks and the Dallas Wings. PGHCalifornia staff was really impressed with what we saw on this trip to Texas.
Top Performers for Village:
21′, 5’8, SG, Aiken Semones – She was a solid guard player with defensive skills, gets it done and is not afraid to play hard. Showed a touch from outside in the corner of the key, really liked the intensity she brought to the games as a whole.
21′ 5’7, PG, Karlie Sampson – She ran the floor and could finish at the rim thru contact, which also led to her hitting some big shots in the game for her team.
21′, 6’4, PF, Jada Malone (#1 in TX 2021 Rankings) – She was the most dominant post presence this weekend that can finish with both hands, finished at the line as well with ease. Big physical body, soft hands and can score at will. She ran the floor, post sealed her opponent and finished them off with either hand in on the drop step.
21′, 5’8, PG, Tymberlin Criswell – She was the floor general on the team, softball passes on the money from volleyball hash line. Excellent passer and feel for the game like no one else. She was the most poised guard we saw all weekend at this event.
22′, 5’10, SG, Sydney Ward – She was a long athletic wing type that owned the paint for rebounds, relentless on the boards. Knocked down a couple of threes in this game to help her team get going on the floor.
Top Performers for Frisco Liberty:
20′, 6’2, C, Kyla Crawford – She was a post presence with some considerable size, she knew how to use her body well to gain position for herself in the paint, it was a good battle between her and Jada Malone.
21′, 5’10, SG, Lily Ziemkiewicz – She was a big guard/wing type with an athletic build that can handle and distribute for her team. This team must shoot all the time, because she knocked down about three three-pointer herself in this game. Nice form on her jumper as well.
21′, 5’9, SG, Maya Jain – She was a slender guard with a nice frame and a nice stroke on her three point shot, again, everyone on this team could fill it up from the three line.
22′ 5’3, PG, Kamen Wong -She was a little guard with handles that can distribute and shoot the three pointer on the floor. Knocked down three of them in this game.
22, 5’8, SG, Jazzy Owens-Barnett – She was a solid body type guard, not afraid to mix it up, crafty and could get to the basket with ease off the dribble. Ability to create and get the charity stripe, also showed us her nice stroke from the three line as well.
