Dominguez (0-1) San Gabriel Valley League vs. San Gabriel (0-2) Almont League
Final Score: Compton Dominguez HS 54, San Gabriel HS 25
This matchup was kind of odd even when you take a good look at it, you have Compton Dominguez, a heralded school with some talent and a long listed history of being a really good basketball team for girls in their past. With San Gabriel, you get a team put together of kids in the surrounding area that most likely do not have the club basketball resources the other schools in the are like Mark Keppel HS would have. We are just speculating, but most of it is probably true when it comes to the contrasting styles of these two programs in this contest. The results are exactly what we expected to happen in this game, with Dominguez going on to win the game with a final score of 54-25. In this matchup we will talk about the kids in both programs who performed in our opinion and we believe we should keep an eye on in the future, here we go.
Top Performers for Dominguez:
2020, 6’1, CG, Leigha Harris is one of the most dynamic combo guards with point guard vision and is one of the most athletic players on the floor at most times. She is developing her three ball, but the midrange and getting to the basket is immaculate for her skill set at the moment. She is long and lanky, allowing her to be able to guard positions 1-5, she’s able to sit down and defend the point guard and harass them with the ball on the perimeter. This kid is special, she is gonna be a steal for some ones program. Leigha finished the game with these stats: 11pts, 11rebs, 9asts and 4stls in the win.
2021, 5’9, PG, Jae’lin Acker is a forward with a little pop to her game, Jae’lin is a prime rebounder for her team, she is relentless on the boards and has some great hands. She grabbed some key boards in the game we watched, most impressed with her catch and finish skills under the rim. She will be one to watch in the near future as well. Jae’lin finished the game with these stats: 13pts, 12rebs and 4stls in the win.
2022, 5’7, SG, Rae’Lani Trinity-Frost is a shooter on the perimeter with a nice stroke from the outside, she can fill it up and she hit 3 of 4 three pointers in this game to help her team win. She has nice body frame, she has a thick body type, she is strong and can run the floor and catch and shoot in transition. She will be a force to reckon with next year as the specific player. Rae’Lani finished the game with these stats: 15pts, 4rebs, 3asts and 3stls in the win.
