Jorynn RossFirst of all, Ross is 6’2 and freshman and will be added to the PGH Texas 2023 Watch-List. Her upside impressed me over the summer but that physicality, taking and giving, has me thinking big things are definitely coming. She finishes well, after contact and she is a battler on the boards but just talking to the young lady about basketball after the game left a lasting impression because she wants it and with her size ad skill set, all I can say is remember her name because she is going to create some problems on both ends of the court . This was a scrappy John Cooper squad, one of their coaches, Kenny G, keeps me in the loop about the talented players from not only Cooper but the area and although I’m not sure if he can play the sax, he has had plenty of hits over the years as far as keeping Coop in the Loop
Katelyn WoodKatelyn Wood showed she could create her shot and stretch the defense, the talented shooting guard has a good skill-set and her game fits their system nicely. Although Woods is a senior, the Lady Dragons have three other freshmen on varsity, Abby Peterson, Maila Davis and Madison Rogers who combined with Ross may just create some problems down the road
Aalyssa RogersAalyssa Rogers definitely falls into the “under the radar ” category and I remember this idiot coach from one of our “surrounding” states making comments about my calling players under the radar. If you look at the number of players, capable of playing at the next level, and divide that by scholarships available, it’s simple math that plenty get overlooked, I know, if you can play, they will find you and that only works if you have someone like me who saw enough of this young lady in a short span of time to know. She attacks from everywhere, handles the ball under pressure, nice jumper and defends and this was against a talented team, again, it’s not what you do, it’s who you do it against
