Remember these are Freshmen, I’m giving you what I know from doing my homework on these Young Ballers. Getting Varsity minutes as Freshman means you earned those minutes, time will tell who will earn Varsity minutes this season. Who on this list will boost their stock and make a name for themselves, this season?
Chloe Clevenger, 5’5″ G, Doniphan West High School. Chloe is very scrappy, she likes to play downhill in attack mode. Clevenger has good court-vision in the half-court, she can finish with either hand or willingly dish it to an open teammate. She can hit the open 3 point shot and she keeps her teammates involved in the game. Chloe plays with a good tempo and pace and she is a hard worker on the defensive end of the floor. Look for Chloe Clevenger to get some quality minutes on Varsity this season for Doniphan West High School.
Destiny Yates, 5’5″ PG, Manhattan High School. Destiny has some good athleticism that helps her on both ends of the floor. She uses her quickness to get to 15ft. and get her midrange shot off. Yates is a good ballhandler and an even better defender. She’s been trained to play downhill, which is good for a young guard. Getting some Varsity minutes this season will be determined by how hard she is willing to work and if the opportunity is there at 6A Manhattan.
Brianna Pollard, 5’8 SF, Tonganoxie High School. Brianna Pollard with this being her freshman season and not seeing her play but at the Lady Prospect College Showcase & Open Gym, I can tell you this…The potential is there to be a good player. Pollard has some length, she’s a small forward that showed some good footwork during skills sessions. Brianna Pollard has some good athleticism and she is a hard worker on both ends of the floor.
Kanyon Olberding, G, Jackson Heights High School. Kanyon is on my list of freshmen to go watch. Olberding participates in track in jumping events, which intrigues me because if she continues to do both it could elevate her game in time. Kanyon Olberding has some long limbs that could help her on both ends of the floor as she matures.
Morgann Haaga, F, Lawrence High School. Morgann Haaga is another player on my list to go watch. She is long and with some work in the gym to get faster & stronger, she has the potential to be a good defender on the perimeter. Morgann will need to be able to shoot the 3 point shot in the future so she can stretch the floor. This will make her a force to be reckoned with if she can do so.
Grace Ryan, 5’2″ PG, Cornerstone Family High School. Grace Ryan is a freshman that plays soccer and basketball. Ryan has that lateral quickness and good footwork like most soccer players have. She is a good defender and a smart player. Looking to earn some Varsity minutes this season, Grace will need to be confident and just play her role for her team. Grace Ryan will get better as the season goes, she played on the freshman team as an eighth-grader for Cornerstone Family High School last season.
Landry Zoeller, Blue Valley Randolph High School. Landry is a track star, last year in middle school she set some school records. Zoeller holds the 100 meters record(13.91), 200 meters record(29.72), 4×200 Relay Team(2nd best time), and the Triple Jump(2nd best jump 32′ 2.5″). Landry has some good athleticism, she also has some good lateral quickness that helps her defensively to keep defenders in front of her. When Landry Zoeller gets stronger, faster and gets the reps in to get better on the court, who knows what her upside could be. She already knows how to compete and win, thanks to her track background.
