These players are looking to make a name for themselves and better their position in the Kansas Prep Girl Hoops Rankings or bust onto the scene in the rankings for the first time.
Grace Dixon, 6’1″ PF, Manhattan High School comes in at #37 in the Kansas Prep Girl Hoops Rankings. Grace will be looking to get some good minutes this season. She works hard in the post to get good positioning in the paint. Dixon can score the ball down-low and she also has good hands. Grace can step out beyond the arc and stretch the floor with her 3 point shooting. Defensively, she is a good defender, she uses her lateral quickness to stay in front of her opponents on the defensive end. Offensively she is quick enough to take bigger opponents off the dribble. Grace Dixon should be a key player this season for a very good Manhattan High School team. They should be in the mix for a 6A Kansas State Title.
Corrie Hassett, 5’6″ CG, Bonner Springs High School comes in at #104 in the Kansas Prep Girls Hoops Rankings. Corrie has a quick release that helps her to get her shot off from behind the arc with accuracy. She’s a good catch-n-shoot shooter with some nice range to her shot. Hassett is also capable of handling both guard positions and she knows how to feed the post. She got some good minutes last season as a Freshman.
Chais Chickaway, 5’7″ SG, Lawrence High School comes in at #106 in the Kansas Prep Girls Hoops Rankings. Chais will be looking to earn some Varsity minutes this season due to the loss of 5 Seniors graduating. She has some good range from beyond the 3 point line. Chickaway is a spot-up shooter looking to let it fly and if she gets hot it could be a long night.
Jaley Barkley, 5’6″ PG, Cair Paravel Latin High School: SLEEPER ALERT! Jaley has a good IQ and she’s best when she plays downhill. Barkley plays with a chip on her shoulders, she knows how to score the ball when needed. She is a good passer and keeps her teammates invested in the game. Jaley can hit the open three-point shot and she moves her feet well on the defensive end of the floor. Jaley Barkley will contribute to her team in a major way this season.
Ella Hurtig, 5’10” G, Transfer from Topeka-Hayden to Washburn Rural High School: SLEEPER ALERT! Ella takes pride on the defensive end of the floor. She is a long athletic guard that has good footwork. Hurtig can score off the dribble or catch-n-shoot. Ella likes shooting transition 3’s, she can spot-up and hit the open 3 also. She has good handles which she uses to attack or if needed has shown that she can slide over and handle PG duties be a distributor first. Look for Ella Hurtig to help Washburn Rural get back to State this season. Her versatility allows her to play the 1-3 positions. Ella is coming off of an ACL injury before her injury I had her as a Kansas Top 20 Prospect in her class.
