Robert Kelly (PGH Kansas) and I will be breaking down all the talent at the event over the rest of this week or so. Up next is a look at Team 10 from the Expo.
Nora King – 5’4 PG – 2023 – Wahlert Catholic HS (IA)
This was a very young team and Nora was just one of the very solid freshmen in the group. She handled the ball well and played very solid defense on both ends of the floor. I thought that she played with a lot of poise even though she is so young. King showed quickness with the ball and should be a solid piece for Wahlert.
Aaliyah Riley – 5’5 PG – 2024
Riley was one of the youngest players on this team, but she certainly didn’t look like it. Riley was all over the floor during the day and she showed her quickness consistently blowing by opponents. She scored well at the rim and she still has a year to go before she enters high school. It was a great showing from Riley.
Mia Miller – 5’5 PG – 2022 – Bondurant-Farrar HS (IA)
Miller is a solid guard who can play on the ball really well. She played solid on both the offensive and defensive end with the ball in her hands and I thought that she looked improved from the summer when I saw her. Miller is developing and shot the ball well from the perimeter. She is going to play a big role this upcoming season for Bondurant-Farrar.
Dallas Carpenter – 5’6 G – 2021 – Smithville HS (MO)
Carpenter is a small off-ball guard who can really light it up off-the-catch. She has the ability to put the ball on the floor and drive it as well culminating in a lot of opportunities at the line. Carpenter also played really solid defense during the game allowing her to push the ball in transition after steals. She has a big year in store.
Myah Lugar – 5’8 SF – 2021 – Mid-Prairie HS (IA)
Lugar is an under-the-radar player who plays very well on both ends of the court. Lugar played very well the entire day showing off her full arsenal of moves with the ball. She is very good at recognizing the soft spot in the defense and taking advantage of it. Mid-Prairie should be much improved this year and it starts with Lugar.
Alli Tanke – 5’9 PF – 2024 – Johnston HS (IA)
Tanke was one of two 2024’s on this roster and despite that, she played well. Tanke was solid even though she was on a roster full of post players. She has the athleticism to run the floor really well but she also scored on the inside at a nice rate. Look for Tanke to really make a splash once she hits high school next year.
Greta Trowbridge – 5’9 F – 2022 – Mill Valley HS (KS)
Trowbridge was awesome as an inside-out post player on Sunday. She was able to run the floor well but also got inside position multiple times well. She tends to play out on the perimeter more, and I think she can, but with her versatility, she is going to become a very good point-forward type player.
Casi Waterhouse – 5’10 SF – 2021 – Bondurant-Farrar HS (IA)
Waterhouse is a jack-of-all-trades as she consistently makes the right plays and puts herself in a position to make those plays. She isn’t flashy but has the basketball IQ to become a very productive player. As Waterhouse improves her jumper she is going to become an even more dangerous player.
Baylee Zakrzewski – 5’11 PF – 2023 – Duchesne Academy HS (NE)
Like Huss below, Zakrzewski was a player who impressed and is going to be on the floor seeing some time this upcoming year. She is a high motor player who runs the floor well and can make things happen because she gets herself into good spots. She is also very skilled allowing her to score on guards or bigs.
Nicky Huss – 6’1 C – 2023 – Duchesne Academy HS (NE)
Huss was one of the most imposing players at the event as she is a 6’1 freshman. She was all over the floor making plays and had a very good motor. She is a solid rebounder with the ability to push the ball up the floor. Duchesne is loaded with impact freshmen and Huss is going to be right at the top of that list.
