Robert Kelly (PGH Kansas) and I will be breaking down all the talent at the event over the rest of this week or so. Up next is a look at Team 4 from the Expo.
McKenzie Rentschler – 5’5 PG – 2022 – Mount Vernon HS (IA)
Rentschler is another small guard who is very solid. I like her ability to suck in the defense and pass the ball out to a shooter. She is a good scorer herself and her scoring ability was on full display at the Expo. I thought that she was able to push the pace really well and her defense was solid. I look for her to have a solid sophomore campaign.
Carolyn Pierce – 5’6 G – 2023 – Iowa City West HS (IA)
Pierce is a very solid player in a great 2023 class in Iowa. She might not get a ton of action next season for Iowa City West, but I fully expect her to be in the rotation. Pierce is a dynamic scorer, a good defender, and she looks very confident with the ball in her hands. She is going to develop really well and become one of the top young players in the state quickly.
Morgan Rees – 5’8 SF – 2023 – Southeast Polks HS (IA)
Rees was someone who I hadn’t seen before and I really like the potential that I saw. Rees was poised on the court and never got too high or too low. She is fairly mobile on the floor and I think will end up playing out primarily on the wing. I like her frame and I think she’ll only keep gaining strength making her more effective as she looks to score inside.
Ellie Bulman – 5’9 SF – 2021 – Gilbert HS (IA)
I have long been a fan of Bulman’s game and I wanted to see her become just a bit more aggressive scoring the ball. It is always a benefactor to have a strong wing shoot the ball well and at the Expo, I thought that she looked a little better in that regard. I will be keeping a close eye on her shooting percentages this upcoming season. Bulman had a great showing at the Expo.
Averie Ryan – 5’9 SF – 2024
Ryan was very solid at the Expo being the youngest player on the team. She looked very fluid with the ball, showed the ability to score at all three levels, and passed it really well. Ryan is like a swiss army knife on the floor with the differing amount of things that she can do. She’s going to be a player to watch as she enters in to high school next year.
Halle Vice – 5’9 F – 2023 – Pleasant Valley HS (IA)
Vice is a really solid post player who I hadn’t seen prior to the Expo. I thought that she looked really good playing both on the wing and in the post. Vice is another young player on this team and I think that she might have the highest potential if she gets stronger and keeps growing. Look for Vice to find the rotation this season for Pleasant Valley.
Jaydan Nitchals – 5’10 F – 2022 – Estherville-Lincoln Central HS (IA)
Nitchals is a very powerful forward from Estherville-Lincoln Central, and she looked tremendous at the Top 250 Expo. I thought he looked more mobile and physical around the basket as well and quicker in the open floor. I think this upcoming season for her is going to be really good as she is going to be able to score the ball at an even higher rate.
Ellie Foster – 5’11 G – 2020 – Dike-New Hartford HS (IA)
Foster is one of the top players in the 2020 class and she showed why at the Expo. She’s a very fluid guard who is among the best pure scorers in the state. She scored the ball at a very high level all day long and proved herself against some solid competition. Foster also was able to distribute the ball effectively showing her prowess as a combo guard. Committed to UW-Green Bay.
