Continue ReadingAlex Long is a highly regarded prospect here in Michigan. The star from Flushing High School continues to impress. Long is a 5’7″ guard and is in the class of 2021. She plays grassroots basketball for the Michigan Cagers. Long is also a star in the classroom, holding a 4.0 GPA.
If you see her play, you’ll understand why Long is a sought after prospect. She’s a high IQ player that seems to understand the ebbs and flows of the game. Long can read the floor and sees the action in advance. She makes sure that she knows her teammates’ strengths, weaknesses, and tendencies. This helps her put them into, and find them in, high percentage positions. Long is a shooter at heart. She has range extending beyond the arc and shows excellent shot selection.
Long loves the process of improving and cherishes the big moments in the game of basketball. She is currently working on her ability to finish around the rim. Long points to a game during her freshman season as her top moment in basketball. In this game, she buried a 3 pointer in the final 20 seconds that gave her Flushing team the lead and the win. The victory kept her squad undefeated in conference play. Long is looking forward to an intense matchup with Midland Dow this season.
The recruiting process is in full swing for Alex Long. She has been shown heavy interest by multiple schools. It’s easy to see why, as she has a lot to offer a program at the next level. In addition to her skill set, Long will bring a competitive nature. She will provide a college coach with an athlete that has a desire to get better and to make others around her better as well.
Long has goals set and is ready to accomplish them. This high school season, she wants have a high shooting percentage, and get more steals and rebounds than last year. Long realizes that continued hard work will help her accomplish these things. Another goal of hers is to find a school at the next level that truly fits her and feels like home.
