Barker attends Holt High School and plays grassroots basketball with Elite Nation Basketball (ENB). Last high school season, she averaged 11 points per game and led her team in steals. Barker will be entering her 3rd season as a varsity player.
Barker is a skilled athlete and basketball player. She’s well rounded and athletic, also playing volleyball and soccer. Barker has the ability and intelligence to effectively read a defense and respond to it. She adjusts to in game situations with ease. Barker is excellent at taking advantage of what the defense gives her. She creates shots on offense by either putting the ball on the floor or moving it quickly.
Barker is always focused on improving and gaining experience. She is currently working on improving her jumper. Specifically, Barker wants to increase her 3 point shooting percentage. Her biggest moment in basketball so far was beating her school rival Grand Ledge in double overtime. Barker is looking forward to key matchups with Okemos this season. Last year the teams split 2 close games.
Ella Barker has a lot to bring to a college basketball program. Beyond her skill set, she brings a dedicated team player who will sacrifice for the good of the squad. Barker is very coachable and is always willing to learn.
Ella BarkerBarker has goals that she wants to achieve. This season, she simply wants to improve every game and become a bigger threat from behind the arc. Barker is excited to continue to be a leader on the court for her Holt team. She wants to eventually play college basketball, earn a bachelor’s degree, and possibly a masters.
“My Dad is my biggest motivation to achieve my goals because he always pushes me to be the best. My Dad has put in a lot of time to help me become a better player. He’s either outside rebounding for me, taking me to the gym, taking me to and from practices, or even buying me programs to follow. My Dad goes to every single game and will share his opinion of how I played, good or bad. My Dad has always had extremely high expectations for me and that helps me push myself to reach them.” – Ella Barker
