At 6’0, Stout is a competitive athlete who was averaging 26.3 points and nine rebounds in eight games before injuring her ACL. She was named one of the best multi-sport athletes and after being released after five months of rehab has seen her game grow.
For the people who haven’t seen me play, I’d say my game is competitive. I play under a great coach, with a great team and our love for the game is unmatchable for most teams. We got 4th at state my junior year. I’ve been to state three times for basketball.
“his upcoming season I think will be a climb for me in proving to people that a minor step back is nothing compared to a major comeback,” she said. “As for our team this year, I think we will have a winning record again and a big chance at going to state this year again.”
After going 21-5 overall and placing fourth at state last season, expectations are high this season for the Lady Panthers.
“Our expectations this upcoming season are most importantly growing together as a team, as we have done the payment two years,” Stout says. “Beating the ranked teams. Striving to be first in the Haven Tournament and Hesston tournament. Winning substate, and also winning state too. We have all the pieces. I’m looking forward to playing Hesston, Andale, and Haven.”
Stout says the biggest influence on her basketball career has been head coach Jon McLean.
“He went through an injury just like mine, and told me to never give up on my dreams no matter how hard life gets, or what obstacles are in the way,” she says. “The best thing about his character is that he cares for each and every one of his players and sees potential in all of them.”
A fan of former South Carolina and current WNBA star A’ja Wilson, Stout says enjoys her competitive nature.
“Her love and competition for the game inspires me and women my age to have that type of love and drive for the sport,” Stout said. “Her character as an athlete and as a person inspires me also.”
Stout committed to the Wichita State volleyball program two years ago but has also drawn interest from several college basketball programs over the years, including North Western Oklahoma State University, Oklahoma Cristian University, University of Central Oklahoma, Denver, University of Central Missouri, Hutchinson Community College, Johnson County Community College, Truman University among others.
