Continue ReadingOlivia Dirkse is a prospect in the class of 2022 that fans and coaches will want to keep an eye on. She’s a highly skilled 5’7″ point guard. Dirkse attends Davison High School and plays grassroots basketball with the Michigan Cagers. During grassroots season she helped the Cagers to a 33-8 record. Dirkse had 319 points (9ppg) and 47 steals. She shot 37% from behind the arc and had a field goal percentage of 56%. Dirkse holds a 4.0 GPA as well.
Dirkse has an impressive skill set. She is constantly communicating on both ends of the floor. She talks to her teammates and coaches throughout the game, making sure everyone is on the same page. In true point guard form, Dirkse has great court awareness and is a solid passer. She can be counted on to see an open teammate and deliver the pass with accuracy. Dirkse is a confident and effective 3 point shooter.
Olivia Dirkse is focused on improving. She is always in the gym working to be the best that she can be. Dirkse is currently focused on improving her close-range jumper. She recognizes the importance of being a true 3 level scorer.
Dirkse thrives in big games and treasures the memories that basketball creates. She considers hitting a game winning 3 pointer her best moment in the game so far. “I ran and gave my coach a big hug and every one of my teammates surrounded me,” she said. Dirkse is looking forward to a big game against Flint Carman Ainsworth this season.
“They are a good team with very good players that will push me and make me a better player.”
Dirkse is driven by her goals. This high school season, she wants to her Davison squad in any and every way she possibly can. Dirkse wants to win a state championship and play college basketball. Off the court, she wants to go to a 4 year college and earn a degree. Dirkse sees herself working with children in an occupation that allows her to help them in any way that she can.
“My greatest motivation to achieve these goals are my parents. My parents have always been so supportive of me, never push me to do anything I don’t want to do, are always there for me, and want me to do the best that I can in anything that I do in my life.” – Olivia Dirkse
