Continue ReadingYou have shooters and you have scorers and if you don’t know the difference, continue to read and absorb my countless years of useful information because there is so much useless information thrown around on social media that it just tickles me pink, well sort of. The difference between a shooter and a scorer is a scorer “finds ways to put the ball in the basket” while being a shooter is somewhat self-explanatory and though there are times when players fall into both, it’s always great to mix it up
Gracelynn AlvarezGracelynn Alvarez-Heights-one of the most underrated junior guards in Texas, not by me, as well as one of the most gifted scorers in Texas. Her range is two steps after she crosses midcourt but she has “the total package” offensively as she slices to the basket effortlessly and scores with either hand. Peep this, she’s added a step back but she also sees the floor and you go from good to great when you make your teammates better
R’Mani Taylor-Shadow Creek- the good thing about freshmen is that they become sophomores certainly makes no sense to me and certainly didn’t apply to Taylor as she opened her high school career with a bang. She’s strong, finishes with contact and has range from the NBA line. She releases her shot effortlessly and she sets defenders up nicely on because she goes left or right the same, tough and finishes the same way
Sydney WardMalon Garner-Yates-senior guard put on a show as she scored in bunches, multiple times and from anywhere. A trifecta of threes caught my attention, that’s three in a row from deep, as well as being court savvy and playing the passing lane numerous times which turned into steals going the other way for layups. Her energy trickles down to her teammates and she brings plenty of heat
Sydney Ward-The Village- when I call you a #BCSLock before you score your first basket in high school, it’s a done deal because I don’t guess and I’ve never been wrong but when a player is over 6’0 with a 6’3 wingspan, elevates on their jumper, mid to long-range is fluid and consistent, attacks from the wing while being defended and finishes, acrobatically all I can say is ladies and gentlemen, she’s one of the top sophs in the country #TrustMe
