Eastern Brown and Lynchburg Clay will be having something to say.
Five Players to Watch: 2022 Cameron Pickerill, 2021 Rylee Leonard, 2021 Azyiah Williams, 2020 Delaney Harper, 2020 Zoe Fittro
Eastern Brown 22-3/13-0) SHAC/Sectional Champs, District Runner Up
Head Coach Kevin Pickerill
Players to Watch. 2020 Camryn Pickerill, 2023 Rylee Leonard and 2022 Mackenzie Gloff
Eastern Brown will be looking to replace 3 seniors who were key over the last four years, but Coach Pickerill thinks he has “a good mixture of upperclassmen and underclassmen.” This year he will look for leadership and scoring from SR Guard Cam Pickerill (Ohio Dominican signee), along with play from SO FWD Mackenzie Gloff and FR PG Riley Leonard. SR SG Juanita Helbing should also step up this year. Pickerill will continue to play consistent and shoot the ball well, she is a leader and a coach on the floor, but PG Leonard could be a key factor in Eastern Brown keeping the conference championship in Sardina,
North Adams (17-6)
Head Coach Rob Davis
Players to Watch 2020 Delaney Harper, 2021 Faith Howell and Karissa Buttlewerth
North Adams is perennially in top of the SHAC and a top team team n the District as well. They lost one starter from last years team and return 9 Varsity players. 6’ JR Delaney Harper will hold it down inside and SO G Karissa Buttlewerth who help spark the offense. Coach Davis thinks they “will be pretty good should have a lot of depth Harper, Howell and Buttlewerth been playing well”. One of the keys for North Adams to be on top of the SHAC is the play of Harper, with the lack of size in the SHAC she could have a big senior year. Look for North Adams to once again be in the top spot.
Lynchburg Clay (21-4)
Head Coach Whitney Lewis
Players to Watch: 2020 Zoe Fittro, Logan Binkley, Serena Smith, Kylee Lunsford and 2021 Sierra Benney
After 4 years of the best player in the area Peyton Scott(now a starter at Miami OH), Coach Lewis looks to still stay in the hunt for SHAC title and tourney runs “with five seniors on the team, four of them with a lot of quality varsity minutes under their belt, we are looking to use that experience to help us get better each game” Coach Lewis always does well in her game plan and once again Lynchburg will not be an easy game for anyone, specially when they play on the “Blacktop” of their homecourt
Ripley (6-17)
Head Coach Chris Coleman
Players to Watch 2021 Azyiah Williams
Coach Coleman always has his team ready to play each night and feels tells us that this year’s “Team is young and small. Quicker than last few years. 2021 Azyiah Williams will be our Point Guard. She is quick, good ball handler, and can shoot it fairly well.”
West Union (4-19)
Head Coach J R Kirker
Player to Watch 2022 Alexa Rowe
Coach Kirker lost a lot to graduation last year and looks to rebuild and will do so with a young team, talking to him he states his team is “young, but they work hard”. Coach Kirker will have this team ready each night, they will come to compete.
