Macy Silvey is a 5’9 2022 guard from Edwardsville. Macy is coming off an great AAU season playing for Bluestar ( Silvey). During the AAU season Macy took over the role of playing the point guard spot. She did a good job of being the primary ball handler and handling the pressure. Macy has mostly played the shooting guard spot and showcased her outside shot and ability to get to the basket. The experience playing the point will help her land college offers. In the mean time Macy should step up and play a primary role for Edwardsville. She will no doubt provide extra scoring punch and help as another ball handler if teams try to keep the ball away from Que Love.
Shannon Dowell is a 5’8 2023 guard from O’fallon. Shannon is a very long slasher that has shown a special talent for taking the ball to the rim. She is able to freeze her defenders and then use her explosive quickness to blow by and get to the rim. Shannon will appear to not be going anywhere and then be gone before you know it. Due to some roster changes at O’fallon it would seem that Coach Knolhoff may need to play Shannon more than he may have thought in June. She will have the chance to step into a significant role in a tough 4A conference.
Jillian Hamilton is a 5’9 2023 forward from Pana. Jillian worked her way into a starting spot as a freshman and added 7 points and 4 rebounds in a complimentary role. She is a very efficient player that converts her shots at a good percentage. Jillian will become a bigger threat this year and will use her versatility to score and rebound at a much higher rate.
Madyson Hill is a 5’11 2021 guard from Vandalia. Madyson will step into the rile as the primary ball handler for Coach McNary this year. Vandalia is trying to turn the program around and create a winning culture and Madyson can be a big part of that. She will have the chance to exploit her match up advantages. As a tall guard she will often be able to score in the lane against smaller guards. Madyson has done a good job in the summer with the old Indiana Flight West program and will use that experience to excel during the school season.
Rachel Holthaus is a 5’6 2022 point guard from Pana. Rachel is a true point guard that has a natural instinct to lead her team. She is an excellent ball handler that sees the floor very well. Rachel excels in the open floor, especially in a fast break situation. Rachel had a very good summer splitting time between the 16/17u Predators teams. She has really shown an ability to score the ball for the Predators, which will provide another weapon for Coach Storm and the Pana team.
Jillian Nelson is a 5’10 2022 wing from Alton Marquette. Jillian is an exciting athlete that has long arms and speed. She has put most of her focus into soccer, but, Jillian is developing into an excellent basketball player too. She played a small role off the bench as a freshman but should move into the starting lineup this year. Jillian excels on the move with the ball in her hands. The one hand bounce pass and acrobatic contested layups are common when she is on the move.
The season will be exciting to watch these players, and many others, develop and take over a prominent role on their high school team.
