Pallotti has put together what they believe is an IAAM championship contender. St. John’s is trying to adapt to life without Azzi Fudd who is on the mend from an ACL tear. Here are my thoughts on the action…
Lauren Russell Is One Of The Best Shooters In The Area
Lauren is 2021 combo guard who launches threes from NBA range at times. She has really improved her ball handling and is developing into solid all around guard as she will lock up on defense as well. She will spark Pallotti off the bench and should probably see some minutes as a starter this season.
Kelis Corley Is Taking On A Much Bigger Role For St. John’s
5’10” senior Kelis Corley is stepping into a much bigger role this season based on what I saw. Kelis plays at a deliberate but aggressive pace and stays in control at all times. She has good speed and a nice pull up game. She did a little bit of everything in this one on both ends of the floor. She will be playing at Stoney Brook next year.
Gianni Boone Is Ready To Take That Next Step
Sophomore wing Gianni Boone has always been one of my favorite players. With a season in the WCAC under her belt she is looking like she is ready to emerge in her second year. Gianni is a smart and versatile player that is capable of guarding multiple positions. Her offense continues to develop and she has a nice collection of finishing moves in her bag. She runs the floor and crashes the boards. Looking forward to seeing her continued progress.
Delaney Thomas Looks Like The Real Deal
This freshman post comes into the season with some big time offers on the table already after a stellar campaign on the Girls Under Armour Circuit. The 6’2″ post is long and physical with a soft touch around the basket and a nice 15 footer. She patrols the paint and challenges shots without picking up unnecessary fouls, which is key for a young player. St. John’s has reeled in another good one.
Janiah Hall Could Be the Key To Pallotti’s Success
Pallotti has been making waves for bringing in six talented transfers but returning senior Janiah Hall could be the key to everything. The senior scoring guard has signed with Monmouth University and will need to score consistently for Pallotti to have a chance in the IAAM. Hall is quite capable of heating up and dropping 20 points on any given night, and the Panthers will definitely need that steady double figure scorer. She is threat from the 3 point line on in and she should get a ton of open shots with Eniya Russell drawing so much attention when she has the ball.
