A KC metro high school standout player at Truman High school and a Rockhurst University grad, Coach Strobbe will look to guide her young squad in the always tough Greater Kansas City Suburban Conference Blue Division. coming off of a 14-11 overall record and 6-6 conference record, the Lady Pirates will look to a lot of new faces getting big-time varsity minutes this upcoming season.
KEY RETURNING PLAYERS
Amaya Blake (So.) Guard – 1st Team All-Conference, 1st Team All-District – 15.5 ppg last season
Addison Long (Sr.) Forward – Solid rebounder and Team Captain
“If we can get a couple of our freshman and sophomore players to step up, we will have a good year. Our primary goal this year as a program is to grow our basketball knowledge and build a solid foundation for the next couple of years.”
IMPACT NEWCOMERS
Peyton Adkins (Fr.) Point Guard – Very athletic, hustler, and an improving basketball IQ.
Amaira Peterson (So.) Shooting Guard – Great team leader, a solid shooter who is improving her consistency and strength.
Kiersten Robbins (So.) Forward – True post player with good post instincts. Improving finisher at the rim.
“I expect us to compete against any team we play against this season. But with our youth and lack of overall varsity game experience, I can see us going .500 this year. We have a very strong freshman class, as they make up 10 of our 22 players in our program. This year will be a rebuilding and learning season for us. We still have a strong senior class that has worked to improve their skills, as well as helping our freshman and sophomores get better.”
As most coaches understand you are a teacher first and a coach second. Each season presents a new challenge. For Coach Strobbe and her Lady Pirates, she will lean on her teaching skills as a coach to help her young team get better every practice and every game.
